You don't do the initial claim from the system map. You need to go to a station up to 15(16?) LY away and start the claim from the station contacts menu.

That could probably vanish before or after the feature actually works.
I don't think it is linked in such a manner and is manually added to the menu.

I wouldn't rely on it.
You're better of just opening "Contacts" over and over agian.

brilliant thanks. and 1 last question (does not need to be you but anyone who has done a bit of this. if I am in a station with a few facilities. is the only reason the colonisation guy would be offline is just a bit of server lag? as in there is no legitimate reason why this station would have the colonisation offline ?

it is working here after quiting to desktop and restarting
