Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Claims Unpaused

I wish people would actually try to understand the long term consequences when throwing out the lets build anywhere 'idea'.
... but.. but.. what about the 400 billion systems and all that ? Its not as simple as that. But you'll never convince them.
Convince me please. ( explain it to me like @Ian Doncaster would to a 5-year-old , as in very stern & straight, but without condescending ;) )

And while you're at it , can someone also convince me: So if this new Colonisation seems to be, at least for now, more like 'Hauling Hopscotch' ( the player is a free creative architectural designer or just a placeholding taxi-serving landlord renter? ) and less like 'Sims-in-Space' ( bare bones one&done base-plopping, with no flora no fauna no waterworld access no earthlikes access, etc. ) then what exactly is the purpose for humanity? And i don't mean just for the coveted 'BGS' . i mean for like, story-wise & content-wise & such. Or are we just meant to hold on & trust FDev will reveal in due time? ( aka winter "new feature" ? )

And before someone tries to be "funny" with internet trope #2 "well no one is forcing you to play the update!" ---Yeah obviously, but umm: i WANT to like the update. i want it to be FUN. i want it to be worthy of my time. i want it to $ucceed. i want to better understand the larger GOAL. ( aka "endgame" )

In short, i want to BELIEVE! :geek:
I'm beginning to think this 'unpause' must be bugged.
My guess is their new anti-cheat ( monitoring ) code is layering slower than expected. Open BETA & all.
Whomever has to watch their internal server prompts must get paid in very big Hot-Pocket$

Is it possible that if you are already the owner of your system, then you cannot apply for colonization in another player's system?

All systems with stations next to mine have active colonizer contact, however, my station that I built today is still inactive for application. But still, my neighbor has a similarly built but not fully operational Coreolis, and there I see active contact....

Still not showing in St. Louis.

I know British Drinking Culture. If they've gone to the pubs, expect the next action to be Monday afternoon GMT. the Cards have a better chance of finishing above .500 than we have of seeing colonization open again.
Hahaha!

Lost out on claiming a system because System Colonisation was available to some and not the others. I know it was hotfix roll out but this is kind of painful FDev...

Why does it say "System Claim Unsuccessful?" Should I just keep trying until it works?
It is a bug which has not been resolved and doesn't appear to be a priority. You're better off finding another system which is not affected.
This was an issue prior to all of it being turned off and it seems as though it is persisting.

Thanks, Frontier, for pushing my frustration to an all-time high.

I had my sights set on a particular system, 22Ly from the nearest station. To reach it, I decided to claim a system in between as a stepping stone. I spent an entire day hauling, determined to complete the outpost in one go so I could move forward. About eight hours after I began, another player started colonizing a nearby system. I was nearly finished, and there was no way they could complete theirs in time to reach the system I was after.

Then came the pause. This gave other players the chance to finish their outposts. Today, as soon as the announcement was made, I kept checking back and forth, hoping to see the Colonization contact available—but of course, it wasn’t. And now, after checking the system map, I find that someone else has already claimed the system I worked so hard to reach.

Dear FDev, do you honestly think this is fair? Do you believe the way this is set up provides a fair chance for players like me, who put in the effort to claim a system? Well done—you’ve officially pushed my frustration beyond its highest level in this game. o7

To the people saying they sit for hours inside a Starport to wait for it to work:

Do you literally sit in the Starport or do you relog, including relaunching the launcher? Just curious because those problems are often "healed" by a relog, and somewhere above Paul stated an instance change might be needed?

It isn't, imo. The best one I saw so far is the one already suggested a few times; only the system architect can use the colony contact for the first x hours after a system is initially completed, with the option for the architect to open it up for others to use if they desire, in that same time frame.

The reason the "build where you want" option isn't suitable is because the systems need to be within the BGS framework in order to function. That is based on the standard 20 LY range (I'd personally allow us to claim within 20LY but it's not my game so...)

Allowing us to build willy-nilly with nary a care for where would result in a huge... huge volume of useless, broken systems, scattered all over the galaxy.
Nope he's got a point, BGS aside its going to take me nearly 2 years to get to the system i want (and yes im doing it!), leaving in my wake a shed loads of systems with a single outpost, working as intended?

I'm getting sick of waiting at the same station for this to turn on so no one snipes it
It seems to me that the problem lies elsewhere. My system has active colonization and is not active 10 years away from my system. I also sat for hours and waited for it to activate. :ROFLMAO:

is fdev even reading this?

Do I need to buy a new computer too? LOL

Could be Tuesday if there's a lock in :ROFLMAO:
