Greetings Commanders!

The new Elite Dangerous game feature of System Colonisation is jumping ever nearer to our home system and we know you may have lots of questions about just what it might entail.

To that end we've created this thread for you to ask the questions about System Colonisation you want answered so we can look to bring you a response to as many of them as possible soon!

How will players be able to colonise using a specific Faction if there are no zero population systems within the colonisation radius of systems containing that faction?

Will players be able to rename colonized systems or name space stations?

Will there be a tax system or some kind of passive income available from well developed system to reimburse the initial (probably very high) cost of colonization?

Once colonised and developed by the system architect, will the normal BGS / Powerplay rules apply to the system's Faction(s) / Power in terms of expansion, retreat, etc.?

Will it be possible for one lone player to colonise a system, or will this be a group level task?

Will System Architect have own room on space station or be able to build a "home" planetary base?

Other than the previously announced 24 hour limit for the player initiating colonisation of the target system to deploy the colonisation vessel, are there any other time limits with regard to the colonisation process?

Will System Architects be able to withdraw products or resources created by developed system? For example fuel their FC with tritium mined by mining station they build in the system?

Other then expanding The Bubble or creating a network of colonized systems to reach remote parts of galaxy (which will most likely be done by group of players), what are some of the planned benefits of colonization and developing a single system by a solo commander?

Is the faction that the claim was purchased from going to be treated as a native or a foreign faction in the colonised system?

Some players have named systems in the past, be it from Kickstarter or otherwise acquired (charity auctions etc.).

Will these players be granted right to purchase claims for their named systems in advance, similar as you did with Squadron name reservations for established groups when Sq's were introduced?

Will Player Minor Faction applications return/re-open so players who were not able to get a PMF will be able to expand and colonize as their own faction, rather than some other NPC faction?

Could you provide some insight and design concerns into the allowed range for colonisation ships?

As an example: with the Colonia Bridge offering potential starting points mid-route then this could be built up in about a year.

Is there a set limit to the number of installations (space stations and/or ground facilities) that can be constructed in a solar system based on a predetermined maximum, or is the limit dependent on the number of planets/moons in the solar system?

Will colonisation be possible from anywhere that has a human station, e.g. Maia, Omega Sector, Explorer's Anchorage, any of the Colonia Bridge megaships - or will it be restricted to major bubbles like the home territories and Colonia?

How will the jump range be calculated? Is it going to be just 10 Ly from the system where beacon is purchased, or another way?

Will players be able to choose names for their systems/bases/settlements?

Only one Colonisation construction allowed per faction at the same time, or squadron players will able to start more than one Colonisations for the same player faction but at different locations?

Will you be able to choose an asteroid station as your main star port. Can you pick different economies e.g. Could I put down all tourist ground base and say I want a tourist station.
