Greetings Commanders,

Thank you for all your feedback so far during the Thargoid war. Since the recent update we have been carefully monitoring your progress and making note of all the data available.

As a result we will be releasing a server side change tomorrow (Thursday 6th June 2024) with the following alterations:
  • Spire system spread pushback no will no longer target Alert systems
  • Uninhabited Alert systems are now less challenging to contest
    • Additionally, alternative activities to Orthrus hunting within these systems (e.g. escape pod rescues or interceptor hunting) have received significant boosts to war contribution.
  • Basilisk, Medusa and Hydra interceptor types have received further boosts to war contribution
  • Scout types have received a significant boost to war contribution
In addition:
  • The spire system in Hyades Sector DX-H a11-1 incorrectly received spread pushback from another spire system. Spire systems should always be immune to any form of spread pushback, so this was unintentional.
    • On the Thursday turn, Hyades Sector DX-H a11-1 will have 25% removed from progress, and 25% will be added to the next furthest system, Hyades Sector ST-Q b5-2
We hope with these changes, you find it easier to go on the offensive against the Thargoid threat

Goodness; thank you! Definitely plans were getting increasingly elaborate based on Thursdays and exactly which systems will cause Alerts which interfere with peripheral progress, so that separation really helps Commanders in Alerts and Controls continue without worrying about when actions occur, as long as they do so within the week. We are not going to stop calling it peripheral progress, though!

Regarding the quite popular Invasions, which disappear when Alert and Control systems are pushed hard enough—one idea floating around a bit here is whether having some populated systems skip Alert and go directly to Invasion would be a bit more fun for Commanders who enjoy port defence, perhaps starting by placing the normal Alerts then converting the innermost populated system to Invasion. The only motivation is those Commanders from whom I receive regretful messages when Invasions go extinct as a result of non-Invasion actions, an inevitable outcome at present. Something to consider!

I second that, I stopped when Invasions stopped appearing (Sept/Oct 23?) and only came back to the war with the Titan destruction game play.
I enjoyed mostly the Planetary or Outpost defence in Invasion systems - you got next week if not 100% cleared this week and IIRC the next weeks strength was reduced by the weekly contribution %

Can we have AX reactivations back as well please, pretty please?

AX ground port CZ are my favourite gameplay in Elite Dangerous.

When they were altered to end the moment the system was won for humanity, I stopped getting quite as involved. (And even more so when they vanished completely for weeks on end.)

I know their presence is due to the dynamic nature of the war, but I still wouldn't mind if they persisted until the server reboot and the kills + missions still counted towards overall progress after the system was won, even if it was just a very small amount.

Agree with this, they are the most fun thing in EDO at the moment, great for a bit of cooperative gameplay, and I would love to see more of them.

I agree that I miss the ground AX activation missions. I was just getting in to them, looking at suite/weapon engineering and built out a ship for quick drops and escapes, when they just stopped. Was very frustrated for a week trying to figure out if it was my computer having an issue, or if there were really no more missions.

Does that mean we’re getting another wave of StarGoids?
I would be really very surprised if all this big complicated Thargoid mechanics build on the galaxy scale, which is hidden in the game background, would end unused in the future. New wave of stargoids or theirs regular raids look as very probable future. It also will be interesting to see if all of remaining titans will wait for theirs end on theirs current places. One of questions which we do not know answer yet is what purpose was/is behind titans ongoing attack. There always could be a chance that they may want under some circumenstances to return into their space.

And perhaps this time we’d be able to intercept and attack them en route, using the SCO to catch up?… (one can dream ;))
It will probably also remain a dream. Unless you interdict it, which I’m not sure would work considering how massive one is, while I’m not exactly certain if interdictors have some kind of mass limit (and the window to would be a very narrow one at that).

… if Thargoid attempts at interdicting us are anything to go by, they’d also just laugh at you trying to do that. (You’d also be flooded with a lot of unhappy Thargoids pretty quickly)
