Elite Dangerous | Trailblazers - New Stations Operational Delay

Greetings Commanders,

Since the release of Trailblazers, we have seen an impressive number of stations and outposts built by the community. However, this has had a significant impact on our weekly maintenance cycle, as each new station requires time during maintenance to become fully operational. As a result today's maintenance cycle was going to be significantly longer and we made the decision to bring the game back online.

The remaining stations will be made operational next week. While we are in Beta, we will continue to monitor this data to continuously improve Trailblazers.

We thank you for your patience, keep on building!

Thanks, Paul.

I reckon this was the right call.

Do you guys have any indication as to how long we will be in Beta phase for this feature? A rough estimate would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for the info! One thing we're stumped on is how to affect the system happiness reported in the weekly passive income messages. Any help from the team would be appreciated! :)

With all due respect, but I think this is a scalability issue that was very foreseeable, especially with the range restriction in place. Can you share how your initial expectation compares to the current situation? Like e.g. 10 times more new stations being built each week than initially expected, or something like this.

As the initial rush dies down and people bore of endless hauling its probably going to get better.

That said, for those dedicated to get somewhere, the 15 LY range is going to create a lot of "garbage" systems that just exist as another ladder rung to colonise somewhere further.
Considering a carrier can do 500LY in a single jump and a mandalay can easily do almost 100 LY, i think its plenty reasonable to bring colonisation range up to 50 LY, maybe more if a system gets developed/exploration installations?
But yeah, theres still a scalability issue to fix (and a gameplay one)

As an aside, although it probably won't affect the maintenance load issue, love the idea of stepping stone colonies becoming neglected and abandoned creating spooky POIs tendrilling out from the bubble!

I'm experiencing some weirdness on my recently (last week) colonized system. All was good, including missions board, beacon, and lovely pair of Haz RES. This morning, however, both the beacon and all RES are gone from the navigation map. Circling around the star didn't how the beacon. I can live without a beacon but no Haz, no fun :-(

Could this be related to the partial BGS server run today?

Edit: and... they're back. Both RES and beacon now showing up again. Happy days.

Wait... If you delayed the stations built this past week AND Commanders continue to build MORE stations, won't that cause an almost equally large "log jam" next week?

Your logic is not adding up.
