Elite: Dangerous Trailer now with added honesty

made me giggle

i havent even played the game yet but this didnt but me off.
trailers allways look better than the real thing and this was just a bit of fun i think.
im still looking foward to release and have played the combat sim about 30 times

come on 16/12/14

Nice to see that your total miss representation is already damaging sales of this excellent game. Not funny at all!

Misrepresentation - interesting choice of word... Isn't the original trailer just the same thing? A misrepresentation? How come that is okay, but a parody is not? It's okay to sell a game based on an overblown trailer, but not okay to parody it with an underblown one?

"I'm actually glad I saw this one, b/c I'd been considering getting it due to the trailers I had seen. Now, seeing that it appears to be EVE but with 99% less spreadsheets and first-person cockpit view, I think I'll pass."

Well... if FD had the same ammount of passion put in some things "ingame" as they do with their trailers we all would be better off. One thing is sure tho, Jag will prolly not be offered a job at FDs PR department :D

The point is it doesn't come across as a parody unless you've played the game or heavily researched it. People will see that video and think that's all there is to ED. If you're ok with that then fine but personally I believe a true gameplay trailer by the other person would have been a better option than just showing the slowest parts of the game which is in no way representative of the whole.

FD have the excuse that artistic license is the norm in trailers, what's the OP's excuse?

It's a simple fact that that video is already putting people off buying the game which will do nothing but damage to this community and ED.

I just saw the E3 trailer - hadn't come across it before. It's really rather good, and true to the game.

Indeed. At least the trailer there shows off the game in its true spirit, without misreprepresenting what the game is like.

Still the cinematic trailer is nice, just as pew pew boom eye candy. For prospective buyers, it potentially is trying to sell the wrong game to the wrong players.

Mind, even this E3 trailer could have a parody made of a big chunk of it ("YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR SHIP FROM THIS ANGLE!").

Anyways, it will be bad word of mouth from people buying into what the original trailer represents that will do far more damage than this parody video.

Elite will survive. ;)

I don’t see that it is. There`s nothing wrong with a little humor. The writer at Kotaku gave the game a good write up. The person responsible for the quote above, obviously didn’t even read the article, or watch the video. So when you present people with the information and try to inform them.... and then they turn around and make a comment like the one you quoted, where it seems as though the information went in one ear, and straight out the other, then what do you do? I see those particular type of comments all the time. I believe the people posting them are but malcontents! You cannot win with them.

I thought by added honestly, you ment the part of the lyrics saying:

"YOU MADE A FOOL OUT OF ME"

I'm sure that is enough to make all of the 'Singleplayer Offline' advocates turn in their graves....

:D:D

IMO i think FD failed with the official trailer, they went way over the top, the 2014 E3 trailer was better, even the game music making it more majestic. The could have done a CG version of a tweaked ingame experience, or something similar to the e3 2014 trailer.
