Wow ED is now another video game!
That's what you'll find in a HGE.
You only need 1 HGE to get 100/100 of a Grade 5 material.
Haha .. Really? An HGE is now looking in that way? I'm in love with this update !!! 🙃
No more relogging to menu-loop .. at least for manufactured.. Waiting for some raw-mat-statements here ... I'm full with all. so there is no sense for me currently to test this out

In another thread, one person made an assumption. After the release of PP2.0 NPCs will have engineering ships they will be very difficult to kill. That's what this is all about, so we don't fly ships without engineers anymore.

Funnily enough the if one looks at the communication menu and the list of recently met commanders it gives the time in local time, which for me is UTC+2.. :)
Been like that for years but unfortunately gets the working as intended response.

Forgot to notice how orbit lines were looking when I was in the game some hours ago but I know I wouldn’t have spotted the behaviour due to switching them off it is quite possible I don’t have that function bound.

I'm not sure if this has been reported yet and I haven't searched for it, but the following is not accurate, at least for passenger missions.

Rewards will take you to the microresource cap but not over.
  • Any rewards which would have been over the cap will be lost. Careful monitoring of your inventory and usage of materials traders is advised.

In my case, I completed a passenger mission offering 6 Biotech Conductors as one of the payments. At the time, my BC inventory was 95/100. When I tried to turn in the completed mission, the option to select the BC materials was greyed out and not selectable. If the above were true, I should have been able to select the material payment, and thus my BC count should have been taken to 100/100, with the last BC lost due to being over the cap.

Poor show, FD; how hard would it have been to test this before including it in the patch??? A reputation is a hard thing to break.

Unfortunately, that is how it has always been. Or, at least, for as long as I can remember. If the material reward exceeded the cap you just couldn't take it. An annoying limitation which they could have profited from this patch to remove, alas, here we are...

I had just 30 minutes to check the update today and I will be back in the world... khmm... in the game after next week, but one thing I can say. I love this update, and as you can see even HGE mats love this:

Yes, we know that.

  • Increased Engineering material rewards across missions.
    • Up to 24 depending on mission type, material and mission difficulty

Hi Paul. Are passenger missions supposed to have higher material reward with G4/5 only and including Raw? (So similar to non-passenger missions).

Or are they supposed to keep the old rewards?

That is stated within the overall explanation of the new Thargoid War contribution rewards. There's no reason to expect unrelated mission rewards to change as well.

Edit: At this time

With mission rewards being increased in quantity the capping issue is only going to become more of a prevalent pain point for players. The irony is also not lost that a QoL improvement would be hamstrung by an overlooked anti-QoL consequence.
It's not an unreasonable ask that we can just discard the excess mission rewards.

They may be concerned about players getting mad when they choose the wrong mission reward. That system has been in place for many years, quite possibly to avoid that.

The post I replied to seemed to imply the change should have affected all rewards. My response was just to clarify that's not how it was worded.

FDEV could leave the mission reward overage issue as-is, ensuring everyone gets a reward for completion (can't click what you can't collect). They could change it to auto-destroy over the cap, then deal with new complaints about getting nothing for completion (no significant reward due to a misclick). I'm personally hoping they're working on a way to warn the player. If that's done first, implementing the auto-destroy method will go much smoother.

Oh it was already plenty possible to do that. I've misclicked into useless commodities enough times to question why they were ever an option to begin with. And let's not forget every newbie ever picking the influence reward thinking it'll help their superpower rank.

The solution could be as simple as a little UI element depicting how many units you're about to discard if you select a near-full reward.
