Maybe I misunderstand you. I've been playing this version of Elite since the alpha.

The Epic launcher starts the ED launcher. If there is an update, I have to press the upgrade button, in the ED launcher, which downloads and updates the game. I've never seen Elite update automatically with just the epic launcher.

I don't think you misunderstand me. I've been playing since Epic gave out the free copy and I havent had to click update in the ED launcher to get any update, the update has happened on the Epic launcher. Once the update is out I restart Epic and it starts downloading the update.

One time I tried updating from the ED launcher cuz Epic hadn't realized their was a patch yet and either after updating or instead of updating, it gave me an error, dont remember which. So I stuck to waiting for the Epic launcher. So from this conversation I'm guessing both ways work.

It's never worked that way for me, I always have to click update and the ed launcher do its thing.

The funny thing is the ED launcher is pretty damn slow for doing updates. I actually would love for Epic to do it for me. it would make things so much easier.

Polish has never been a priority for Frontier, sadly. As long as it doesn't blue screen our PCs, Frontier is happy to leave it as is until an issue wins the bug-fixing lottery.
Speaking of, I hope the fact that the next update is built around a "key feature overhaul" indicates that perhaps, just perhaps, the entirety of the update will be focused on bug-fixing and QoL. Odyssey in in desperate need of such a focused effort.

Apex long range shuttles still broken since update 14.

There are some ohter too describing the same problem all not confirmed and therefore never voted for.
I fed the issuetracker many times without problems beeing recognized. Spend a lot of time to mark duplicate issues and therefore have a big frustration with issuetrackers way to handle problems.
Hope for next update but I think the only issue fixed will be mission board issues.

This is what I meant on the upgrade for me happens in the elite launcher.

it is sync ing, thats a start

fwiw, my first update today took 8 minutes

the next one took 4 hours
that involved the launcher sitting there totally unaware of anything for the first 2 hours.....then finally, sync .....ing
I think fdev's version of torrent is not the same as the rest of the torrent worlds

I still have one laptop to go...
