Elite Dangerous: Update 7.01 and Horizons Update (PC Only)

@sallymorganmoore Nice stuff in there. No mention of wonky SRV radar (admittedly fairly low priority (disconcerting, but livable)) or carrier limpet purchases (a bit of a show-stopper for carrier based mining, but I've gone off without my carrier for the duration), even in the known issues. I take it those are some of the "more issues you would like to be listed here".

Greetings, since the update, I have not been able to transfer my mined goods to my carrier. I tried re logging, tried re validating files . Yes there’s more than enough storage capacity on my carrier.
My flummox is proper flummoxed. Please let me know if this needs adding to the official issue list .
Hope your nerves are not getting too frazzled 👍
There is a similar problem with mission cargo, not being able to store - Edit: or sell it - it to the Carrier. I created a ticket. I don't know if it's related.

Greetings Commanders.

Thanks so much for the continued responses from so very many of you, following this week's deployment of Update 7 for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, along with the 'Quality of Life' update for Horizons.

We have a couple of issues we'd like to tackle sooner than later, so these will be going out this early afternoon.

Servers will flick offline at approximately 13:30 UTC / 14:30 BST (give or take several minutes) and will be expected to be down for no longer than 10 minutes for the updates to deploy.

PLEASE NOTE: Updates of this nature are in the pipeline for Console players. We're targetting next week for deployment of those (Certification time required).

Updates of note for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey
  • A fix has been implemented for where engineered weapons were....dealing extreme amounts of damage (I have no 'wit' left in me to give you anything more on this one...other than that really was a lot of damage).
  • A fix has been implemented for the tutorial not starting when selecting 'Start' from the main menu.
  • Tritium collected in a legitimate way should no longer be marked as stolen (slander is bad. Zero tolerance).
  • Ambient traffic can now be expected to spawn around settlements and planetary ports or in space locations that are close to planets such as Conflict Zones & Resource Extraction Sites.
  • A fix has been implemented for Commanders receiving too many credits when selling commodities at a profit (between this and 100000000000 x damage multipliers, you'd think every day was your birthday).
  • An issue has been fixed whereby some players were receiving a "Commander Data" error when logging into the game after logging out, when embarked on an Apex Interstellar ship.
  • An issue has been fixed with insurance discounts being calculated incorrectly when remotely rebuying & transferring a destroyed ship (honestly beginning to think that the Elite Dangerous Galactical Finance Corp are on annual leave...).
You'll like this one (I hope...)
  • Reverted change to Data Ports that made downloading all forms of Data an illegal act.
    • Now, only data that is alarmed is illegal to download.
    • We've also reduced Data Transfer times by up to 75% following your thoughts and feedback.

Forgive the first point of repetition here, but I just want to make "what's in where" as crystal as possible.

Updates of note for Elite Dangerous: Horizons (PC ONLY)
  • THAT fix has been implemented for engineered weapons dealing extreme amounts of damage.
  • A fix has been implemented for an issue where extremely large value combat bonds would be displayed incorrectly preventing hand-in.
  • Top bounties now display correctly in each system.
  • Improvements to material fragments, when mined from deposits, have been made - reducing the likelihood of them getting stuck inside asteroids.
  • A general stability fix has been implemented to prevent one of those illusive server crashes.

Known Issues (working on 'em. Standby)

Heads up:
COMPLETELY aware there are more issues you would like to be listed here, but I'm only listing out the primary ones that fell out heavily since the last update. We're obviously continuing to look at the legacy known issues collected from the past weeks/months/year.
  • Interdiction UI is offset from the centre of the cockpit view.
    • Guess what! We all thought it was missing too! Turns out it's gone on holiday to the far side of the cockpit glass.
  • Fleet Carrier UI can softlock.
  • Fleet Carrier UI sometimes fails to format incorrectly.
    • Instances where you see icon overlaps, button sizes changing or appearing strange, buttons randomly becoming un-clickable. Oddities like that.
  • Investigating Commanders who were unable to modify their suits or weapons.
    • We're almost there with this one! The team are part way through working on it.
  • Commanders shall move their lips again! Lip sync issues are getting some special attention following continued reports.
  • The Session Log within the Codex is greyed out and inaccessible. We've bagged this one.
  • Some weapon damage values are still potentially not entirely what you were previously used to. We'll carry on looking into instances of these.
  • Investigating a report of Interstellar Factors not working as expected.

Hope this helps as many of your as possible ahead of your weekend, Commanders!
We'll be on standby to go through the deployment dance with you all, so until then...o7!

Thanks!
Why is pc only being looked into regarding weapons not doing the damage they should be doing. The only weapons not affected on consoles are multis and frags so please ask them to update this for consoles as well or at least refund us all the materials we have wasted to not get any damage buffs. All damage is stock damage

Why should anyone be banned for doing what the game allows them to do? It's one thing to roll back credits earned through broken game mechanics, but banning someone for just playing the game they were given seems mighty harsh.
Voluntarily bug exploiting is not an innocent move.
You have to know exactly the steps to get these very high numbers or how to duplicate items.
Don't be that guy.

Excellent news. I had the FC UI soft hang this morning, so looking forward to that being addressed.

IF is not a new issue - handling of bounties hasn't been right since launch (if "right" is how it works in Horizons.) We can turn all bounties in at the security contact instead of the IF, which is great - but probably not as intended.

@sallymorganmoore Think you can convince the dev's to tweak the damage numbers of the new gauss to make the total damage not be the same as the regular gauss? Because in all honesty if the damage is the same, there is honestly no point in grinding multiple of them for 20 more shots.

Oh, right. Well, that was the one bug I didn't really mind, it made massacres all the easier.
I mean there were A TON of complains regarding this since it made the already disgustingly hard grind even harder
Personally idc really but thats that

To help you understand.
Console submission processes are handled differently to PC update submissions. There is a platform turnaround time that developers must abide by.
Hope this helps...
Can we at least be refunded the materials in the mean time as a gesture of good will that this will be fixed?

What about players who voluntarily exploited the High Damage Output
This wasn't an exploit like when people were able to spam G1 rolls to produce G5 mods circa 2.1. This patch literally broke pre-existing weapons on people's pre-existing ships, no steps necessary on the player's part. Expecting people not to have a laugh given the extreme and ridiculous circumstances and banning them for using weapons they had had no part in creating would be absurd.

IIRC this has not been fixed on PC either. For me this is actually a pretty serious bug, and I'm surprised so few CMDRs are discussing it. It basically grounds my favorite ship, which relies on engineering to be competitive and enjoyable.

People having a laugh with them is one thing, taking advantage of them to devastate the BGS (assuming that happened) is another.
The fallout of Frontier breaking the game is on Frontier, I'm afraid. As a member of an anarchy faction I am no stranger to the extreme and lasting effects their poorly implemented patches can have on the BGS, but you can't break players' toys then ban them for using them. You can absolutely make the case for them rolling back the BGS, but again, this is Frontier's problem, these weapons fell into people's laps due to a complete absence of QA.

Some weapon damage values are still potentially not entirely what you were previously used to. We'll carry on looking into instances of these.
Definitely not POTENTIALLY.. lots of weapons values have been changed considerably!!

Do you need more instances to confirm this? This is a major change to all our combat builds and is vitally important. If you need more screenshots etc. Please state so and they will be provided, thought it had been reported enough. Understand it got overshadowed by the giggaweapon but this is just as serious for us that use it.

@sallymorganmoore Nice stuff in there. I was able to buy limpets from my carrier a few hours after the Update. Possibly that was just a database catch-up going on. Try again (y)
