Nah. This new tech is unmatched by anything else out there.
TrackIR suddenly looks a whole lot more appealing!
Facebook has announced it will buy Oculus VR, a Californian company which specialises in virtual reality products, for around $2bn (£1.2bn).
The start-up's flagship product, the Oculus Rift, is a goggle-like "immersive" headset for video gaming.
Realistically, it just 'aint going to happen.I'll let you decide if this is good news or bad.
Facebook now owns Oculus Rift - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-26742625
Prepare to have a mandatory Facebook page on your HUD to see what your friends currently want to bore you stiff telling you about![]()

Zuckerberg obviously thinks otherwise![]()
FUD.
From Palmer Lucky - "Facebook is making a long term bet on VR, not a short term run on profit. We have more freedom to do what we want now that our investment partners are out of the picture."
"I guarantee that you won't need to log into your Facebook account every time you wanna use the Oculus Rift."
"You will not need a Facebook account to use or develop for the Rift."
Realistically, it just 'aint going to happen.
I took it you meant that a FB account was going to be mandatory. No sarcasm intended.
Worth pointing out that there's already a raging thread about the Oculus/FB thing, and others have already been closed.
Might be a good idea to carry on with this particular subject over there.
Who knows what Facebook with require/expect. Going to be interesting.
Maybe their financial injection will do the product good.
I think the Oculus guys just cashed in, and why not ... the O.R. is no longer their problem (if it was even one in the first place) .. Facebook have control now, What this means for the O.R. who knows, but the developers of the O.R. are now sitting pretty, and probably don't care about the product anymore ... would you with a good few mil in the bank?

You clearly haven't been following the development of the Rift then. Passion is pretty much what's been fuelling them the whole way and they just hired another big name in the field... so, far from wiping their butts with hundred dollar bills I imagine they're working as hard as ever.
It IS still their concern as I believe there are performance related payments. ie: If the OC doesn't deliver, Facebook won't pay up some of the $$$$$
