Elite Dangerous with Oculus not working any more ?

Hi

When I first got the Oculus and configured ED to run against it in the graphics options, everything went great.

I switched back at some point a few weeks ago so I could watch some stuff while playing.

This evening i switched back to using the Oculus, and i couldn't get it to work at all. Monitor screen goes blank, and the rift headset says "EliteDangerous64.exe is taking a long time to load. If the issue persists..."

Any idea how i would resolve this? I've tried rebooting the oculus, restarting etc.

Thanks for any help....

i should have been clearer - I enabled the headset in the 3d settings - but when it restarted, I just got the message above, which never clears - i.e. game never starts up.

Try validating the game files (from the launcher) to see if that helps.

When I first set the Rift up it didn't like E: D, but a restart did sort it for me. I take it that it works fine with Oculus Home and other games?

Thanks for the response -

Validation didn't help, and yes all the other Oculus games etc. are working fine. I even switched to the public test channel which downloaded new drivers etc.

Given that's not working - how do i at least switch back to not use Oculus? Presumably i have to edit some config file to disable this...?

Yes, all the settings are in xml files in the data directory (can't remember exactly where it is, but think it's under %appdata% somewhere). I haven't looked at them personally, though, so I'm not much help here.

One other thing that might be worth trying is reinstalling Oculus? Do you see any error messages or anything funny happening on the monitor (i.e. not the Rift) while E: D tries to load?

I get this message every now and again.

Fix for me - Look at your monitor, you will prob see a box put up by your anti virus asking you to allow audio stream to/from the Rift. Until you allow, the load up process is halted which Oculus home reports as a possible fault and displays the "EliteDangerous64.exe is taking a long time to load. If the issue persists..." thing
Once I click "allow audio stream" the load continues.

Kaspersky does this to me now and again with Elite, and everytime on first run of a new VR game, so look around your desktop for a permission pop up I'd say.
