Elite Dangerous with Voice Attack and a voice-pack.

Ok, I'm stumped. I've bought Voice Attack and the ASTRA voice-pack. I can speak commands into VA on my desktop and the ASTRA voice talks them back to me. Then I go into the game and speak commands, the voice speaks back to me but the action I've ordered is not carried out.

I figured/hoped the "active window" field in VA would auto-magically send the voice commands to the game but apparently that's not how it works. So now I figure a profile-file (?) has to be inserted into a game folder somewhere.

Questions:

Is such a file included with the ASTRA voice-pack? And if so, where do I find it and where do I put it in the ED game folder? I'm desperately hoping I do not have to manually configure every ASTRA sound-file to each of the game's key-presses. If that's the case I'll not bother, there is nowhere I've seen that ALL the game's key-presses are visually available.

TIA for any help. :)

PS; I'm a moron.

The key bindings is likely the issue

Most sets come with key mapping set to the one that made the pack... you need to either..
-make the key mapping in VA match your settings in game (best option)
or
-Make your game mapping match the VA

As Foxpur said in the second voice it will be easier.

In game just go in the control panel, select a command, once he says to bind a key, just give the command to voice attack, and the key stroke will be implemented.

You have to set the controls in game to match the key settings of the voice attack commands/profile.
Most profiles will be different to yours.
So it's a simple match your in game key controls with the command key presses in voice attack.

btw there's not that many keys tbh,if it's the astra i have most double up anyway because of different commands.

The ASTRA voice-pack already has ED key-strokes setup so there must be a file somewhere in the pack (I assume) that I can 'plug into' the game's software somewhere. I think 777Driver knows what I'm talking about (cheers dude).

I expect such a profile might mess up some of my HOTAS inputs though but I can 'repair' those. I just don't want to have to manually configure every single voice command to a keyboard input from scratch.

Well it will help you to learn all the commands, and you need only one button the voice attack will do the strokes.

Besides installing Voice Attack and ASTRA, you then need to load an ED profile into Voice Attack (ASTRA just provides the sounds--it doesn't load the profile for you). You could create your own, but that would take some time. There are several user-created profiles to choose from in a profiles folder in the Voice Attack sounds directory that ASTRA creates (created after you install ASTRA). I forget which one I chose, but it was something like "Elite Dangerous-Complete Profile". There were 4 or 5 profiles to choose from if I remember correctly. All were pretty similar. Just load one into Voice Attack and look through it. You should see the list of commands and the key bindings.

The profile will likely use the default keyboard commands. If you have changed any of those, you will need to change them in the Voice Attack profile or change them back to default in ED.

Thanks guys, got it all sussed now. It's turned out to be a lot simpler than I first thought. VA can do everything 'in house', there's no need for MP3 voice-files as such. I'm currently using an IVONA voice (Emma) for messing around with. I've worked out how to assign keystrokes and what have you. My wife was amused at some of the things I've had my ED computer saying to me ("does she need to say that for deploying that thingy?!").

1984 to this, who'd have thought. :D

man, i saw the video and was hooked... was playing with voice attack but it wasn't doing exactly as planned but its a lot better now :D

I brought the voicepack from HCS... astra voice and set it up for ED - changed all my bindings in ED to what the pack uses...

BRILLIANT tho it did not 'work out the box' I had to actually edit the profile and the 'disabled' commands and had to 'redo' the keystrokes and turn off the 'repeat x times' option and instead put in x keystrokes in the list.. (maybe the devs for it can shoot me a message via here to clarify in case I am missing some setting in voice attack)

Still a really nice pack and I have added some additional commands with astra's voice responses so all in all a good buy for all up about 20 AUD for voice attack and the voice pack:)

all the education commands show up as unrecognized why is this ?
as the command shows up as ok eg "what are dark clusters" or "what is a galaxy"
the mp3 file is where is should be and will play back when the preview button is clicked

also sounds from QT,stock market, ships, and Vulcan
other sounds are playing ok

can any one help

I am having an extremely frustrating -but possibly related - issue with the HCS voice pack , I installed the full (non beta) .vap file, and was v.soon enjoying the pleasures of having my lady adjust the thrust levels as i gunned down the bounties, of course the other function used a good deal during pirate extermination is Power shift/control as in Weps/Sys/Eng . However, when i tried to tell the good lady to route power to sensors or any other than 'balance power' it is simply not done, ... I have gone through 'un-disabling' all the keybindings that are disabled as duplicates (due to the naming protocols i presume??) , then thought iwas going to get it working fer sure , but still only 'balance power' is working , i have double and triple checked my keybindings .

I am likely doing something or missing something extremely obvious , but i could REALLY do with some help on this as VA has totally changed my game , so far as i can actually play ED now! ...

I am a Right arm amputee so up until VA i have been playing the game with only a Left handed Razer Naga 12 button mouse , which is doable, but a bit of a nightmare really when i look at some of the kit on the market..

Soo, anyhoo, sorry to hijack this thread a bit, but i didnt want to add another 'help me with VA ' thread to the plethora! ...

I'm thinking the OP has a pretty good answer now - not that i could help a great deal! - ..

Thanks all and any ... i can give more precise details if needbe .

SOLVED!!

Ok , OK , ..... Ho de Ho ! .. ..Now my Lady does what i says and goes where i goes !! :)

Why ? was it blindingly obvious? Kind of ... but then , not really ...

I think this maybe the issue Excalibus had and maybe Siggi to an extent ...

I had assumed that to get the best out of the program i should set the 'Send Commands to:' drop down to the EliteDangerous32 running process ; and this , for the most part, was working (as above) but it wasnt until i had been yelling commands at my screen ad hoc in hope of any actions that i noticed the command list reporting - 'Repeating commands can only be applied when using Active Window' ...

So, thats it , changed the 'Send to' to ACtive window , made a fresh profile with everything as default (no need to edit anything! ) , imported a few bits i'd added over the weeks , and Astra (or 'Console' as i coldly call her) now receives and acts on my every command ...

Elite is now 1 handed Bliss!!

hope this helps someone ! :)
