Elite: Feet (as Cmdr Psykokow has dubbed the release of Elite where we finally get to walk around stations and planets) should probably have a new "death" mechanism. Let's face it, if you are trotting around a planet, 10 KLYs from anywhere, and fall into a deep ravine, you're going to be dead. So, what should the re-spawn mechanic be?
A. That's it. You're dead. Your name is written in the stars and you start again from scratch with a new commander.
B. Keep the current mechanic and come up with some implausible explanation for how you are suddenly transported many light years across space in the blink of an eye.
C. A hyperspace transmitter in your ship sends notification of your demise to the pilots federation where your next clone is inflated and your memories uploaded into its brain. This takes a little time, so you are prevented from logging into the game for a period of 24 hours. When you do get back into the game, you find yourself in a freewinder because your insurance payment was used to pay for the inflating of the clone.
D. A choice of A (straight back in the game) or C (take a little time off to spend with the family).
I'm ambivalent. I just wondered what others might think.
