Elite lore.

In fairness to the OP...

E: D - whilst carrying the elite franchise forward has been built on a differing Lore branch than its predecessors.

That isn't to say that other species do not exist, just that - currently - they do not have a place in the overall scenario.

Agreed.

Plus I enjoy making up and writing down huge amounts of fake news. Otherwise known as lying crap. It's possible you were not referring to my gibberish though, my dear Ratty friend? ;)

You just keep piling the stuff on, Mr Hat! There is little enough joviality on this forum...

As for the pack of lies you keep spreading - not lies, Mr Hat, let's call it.. ummm... Yes, Propoganda...

Outstanding! I shall try to think of some more missing alien races that I have so far overlooked. I imagine there are many...I hope ;)

Cheers bud :)

There are some, I'll cover a few here and see if anyone else thinks of any to add -

There are the F'eelines, that some are asking to see graphically represented in ships. They are rumored to be close to attaining the status of new avatar users. They like to attack the controls of starships, at the most annoying times, although most get away with it. Often rumored to chase vermin, eat crap, and have long tails. Not normally harmful, but can be trained by expert pilots. Nearly forgot, four legged.

Then there are the D'ipp Sheets - these guys fly around at engineer bases and near to populated space, to sneak up on unsuspecting commanders, where they cause damage by hitting, or ramming with their giant e-wangs. Largely humanoid, but with a great number of character defects, amongst their hideous body growths. Often mistaken for hicks. Will respond to arguments about game modes, and often set about each other due to lack of food.

I've also heard of the Castout Captains - commonly flying cruise ships around core systems, shouting about percentiles and things. They are rumored to like Fish Fingers, have big white beards, and be tied to corporate fishmongers. Mostly humanoid. Some are rumored to like children, just that little bit too much, if you know what I mean? If you meet them, refer to them as Captain, or make the universal greeting sound to grant yourself free passage - shouting YARRRRRRRR normally works.

I've heard of a group of aliens that used to be seen more than now, due to recent updates. These are again humanoid, and very spiritual in their nature. The Recovering Alcoholic Revenants, are normally found in big population systems, often in Orca analogues. They perform shotgun weddings for inbred humans, and this is where you'll meet them. They have dangerous psychic powers, making the bride at these weddings repeat the same overused lines far too often, up in local comms. Like the F'eelines, they wear collars, but for a different reason, and have strange links to the Castout Captains in terms of their affiliation to young humans. Mostly harmless bipedal humanoids, often seen in dark coloured dresses, speaking in Irish accents, and saying things to do with being "part of his plan" a lot - we presume from research that He is Braben. Be careful challenging them to a drinking contest, these guys have skills.

If I think of any other ones, I'll come back over. Hope this helps you out.
The Hat :)
Absolutely Golden. 😂

In all other versions of Elite that I have played (including the original) there was mention of other intelligent humanoid lifeforms...
The Avians (bird forms)
Amphibians
Reptilians
Felines
Insectoids (including The Thargoids)
etc...

This version of Elite only has us and the Thargoids. Is there any lore written out that explains this?
The only lore I have found describes how the Galactic Cooperative of Worlds was gradually dissolved by the three main super powers.
Thanks.
The following is based on my memory and possibly incorrect information!:
The original elite had multiple lifeforms as you mention - i think I read somewhere that they were were evolved forms of the original spacefarers pets hence the limited types based on popular pets (cat / lizard etc) - I might have dreamt this!
Elite 2 had only humans, essentially ignoring the original elite.
Elite : Dangerous is a hybrid of the two and takes from both, sadly opting for the human only route rather than the more fun version from original elite. There is no writing out of the multiple species (or hoopy casinos / edible poets etc), it's just ignored, sadly.

You might find some of the following links interesting:
If you're interested in the original there's a bit more info here
oolite is a more faithful rendition of the original
Co-author Ian Bell has some interesting bits and bobs here
original source code with comments here
Drew Wagar has written fiction about E : D & original elite / oolite so worth a read, as are those published by fantastic books

Thanks for all that. I still have Oolite on PC and even made a few oxp's for it too.
I haven't played it for a while though since getting ED on PS4.

All my bad jokes aside OP, did you mention the guardians? I don't recall seeing it in your post but I might have just been distracted. If not, there is a great tinfoil thread about them that will give much enjoyment, as it covers all that is known, and some great hyperbolic conclusive too. I know you asked this seriously, and I apologise for my silliness, but the thread I have in mind will make you smile I promise you ;)

Ps - I don't really apologise for my silliness, I'm just trying to be polite ;)

Here you go. The guardians summary, and the crazy stuff too! Thanks to @Red Anders for bringing this to my attention recently:-

Actually I thought your initial reply was funny 🤣

I might be wrong, but I believe that only Elite from 1984 had all those StarTrek-like aliens mentioned in the Lore - that is described in the Dark Wheel novella by Robert Holdstock.

Right now this is not considered part of the canon.

Nice one - I might have enjoyed your OXP's when playing oolite so thanks for your work (y)
If you're interested in the lore it's worth checking out Drews work - he also penned works for oolite which really got me back in to the Elite lore.
FD haven't really capitalised on the lore of the original and have gone off on a bit of a branch that (I feel) hasn't really worked.
Essentially the current elite has humans (us), thargoids and guardians (dead - killed by their own tech). Have a read through of the wiki and possibly check out here for more in depth information.

Ah that's cool, I thought I had really annoyed you, which wasn't my intention at all.

I just had a bit of fun mocking the silly things in game etc, and like @Filthymick420 said, it was for everyone's amusement, as opposed to making fun of your question :)

That link I put up about the guardians is actually quite useful. It covers all the known stuff that you find on wiki or the canonn site, but then goes to very absurd conclusions, which get rather funny too - especially when you get to the level of the hand-drawn pictures lol! I hope it's useful in any case, and glad I didn't annoy you - was just having a bit of fun at the game's expense!
