Elite not hitting GSYNC target FPS

Is anyone aware of why Elite isn't hitting the GSYNC monitor target FPS (using latest 441.66 but seen the same thing with previous versions) ?

Hovering around about 113:

Not a GPU usage issue, plenty spare:

Obviously VSYNC OFF, no Frame limit set, standard settings for GSYNC:

Definitely enabled (not an issue in other games) just incase anyone asks:

Monitors are definitely 144Hz incase anyone asks :)

Any ideas? Seems to be an Elite specific issue but this may very well be the drivers not the game itself.

Thanks

I had this a few months back, my temporary fix was to either to alt-tab out and back in and/or set it to fullscreen and back to borderless. Not really sure if it was ED, the drivers or W10 but it seemed to stop happening (though I'm not playing ED much at the moment). Sorry I can't offer anything more concrete than that.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried that unfortunately no change. Also tried DDU and clean install of latest drivers. Probably even done a format and clean install of Win10 at some point while having this issue. I can't remember exactly when it started as I haven't been playing much Elite lately.

Seems to make no difference in any of the modes, sticks at 113. Doubled checked again now just to be sure, Fullscreen on rails at 112-3

What about Windows power plan and the NVIDIA "power management mode" in the driver control panel; are these set to "high performance" and "prefer maximum performance"?

I notice there are two GPUs listed. Is this an SLI setup? ED has had issue with SLI scaling for some time.

It is in SLI yeah.. It always used to scale, is this a more recent problem?

Edit: although this seems to be a utilisation issue and/or scaling issue as such.

I don't know when it started (I ditched my last SLI setup before I played ED, and ran it with Crossfire for a while but not past 2017), but there have been complaints of scaling going back at least a couple of years.

I'd try disabling SLI and seeing if the GPU load/frame rate returns to normal to rule out an issue with SLI. You may also want to make sure you aren't using any low latency mode with SLI as that caps the render queue depth and AFR normally needs at least one frame per GPU to scale correctly.

I guess it would have been at least a few years come to think about it. I haven't played Elite all that much certainly in the past 6 months.

Thanks, I'll modify the profile tomorrow and experiment a little. It's currently all defaults except from setting Prefer Max Performance mode, as I did a DDU/clean install again today when updating to 441.66

Can confirm disabling SLI fixes the problem. I've abandoned SLI anyway, just waiting for the next upgrade in the future, perhaps when I can afford a 30 series single card :)

Edit: although it is now overshooting to about 155 lol

Good to know.

If you could use more performance, it might be worth tinkering with the SLI modes to see if you can improve scaling.
