Elite NPC Anaconda 1.1... Deary Me

This made me laugh loads.
I've literally just come from the greatest elite AI experience of all time.

Turn up in anarchy system.
Elite anaconda in front of me.
Get KWS out - 140000 bounty
Switch to guns
The Anaconda AI get scared turns and runs away. Only there's an huge blooming rock in its path. Boom. I didn't even have time to fire a shot. No bounty for me. Hilarious ai though
This has been happening whenever you kill warrant scan any AI. They immediately boost forward it seems to get out of your scan range. Though this isn't the brightest idea when there a HUGE asteroid in front of you. I had a Cobra do it and ram into a small Asteroid then start spinning out of control and slam into another asteroid and blow up. Funny sight to behold thats for sure.

Back in the days before 1.1, my Eagle could easily eat those Elite Anacondas for breakfast - in fact that's how I made my money at the beginning, by doing those well paid assassination missions. It was so easy, one day I decided to pull off an assassination with a Sidewinder and never did it again.

Now it's a whole new ballgame. Heard FD upped the AI, picked up an assassination against an Elite Anaconda and oh boy, my Eagle barely managed to penetrate Anaconda's shield. Chaff spamming only works to a certain degree now, delayed SCB effect definitely didn't help...it took me all four 2A shield cells and seven chaffs just breach the shield, and I had to switch to the backup 1A cells just to stay alive. Now the AI is so strong, it twisted and shook itself all over the place and keeping my Eagle at its tail was almost impossible.

Anyway, after a few minutes, my chaffs were gone and my hull was at about 37%, I figured it was not working out. My brain was not in my topgame shape today after flying heavy ships for so long, but it was clear to me that the game itself certainly got a lot harder. So I backed off and pulled out my own Anaconda, went back to the fight and to my surprise, the AI was actually out-turning me. If not for my double-chaff spam it would have certainly got the better of me. Focusing a bit too hard on killing it - my 'conda was outfitted for trading, so I had only three fixed class-3 pulses and a class-4 plasma acc for large targets, the rest was filled with seeker missiles just in case - I got distracted and forgot to juice my shield with the 2A SCB I had, and just before I finishing it off, the AI breached my shield.

Total pay+bounty 200k. Repair cost 500k.

Well, guess the easy days of eating Elite Anaconda NPCs for breakfast in my Eagle is over. Now I need at least a Viper to be remotely comfortable in fighting them. Good job on FD for enhancing the AI, though I think the pay for those assassination missions should also be a bit higher now....

And it should work exactly this way.
Congrats to FD AI engineer :)
I am expecting it will be more harder. I need to feel resistance from elite anaconda in my clipper or python. Of course cash should be about 1-2 mln in case of win.

Beating Elite Anaconda or Elite Python should require a skilled pillot with powerful and fitted for fight ship, at least clipper or python.

Of course for players in cobra, viper or eagle should be missions with smaller ships to beat with less skilled npc.

Anaconda or Python in ELITE should be really ELITE.

AI better? Maybe, but they still no match for me, still dies in seconds. Was testing "rings" with my new brand E Anaconda, this baby went for its first hunt yesterday... And first ship ive meet was Elite Anaconda... 120k bounty. Yay, first kill was Elite Anaconda! Was lucky, since pirates if encounter outside RES, dont respawns after destroyed anymore... Anyway, did noticed that Elite Anaconda did more turns than usual, fired more guns at once, but same as before, its Thrusters died way too fast... Then Ill slowly finshied it off like usual... 4 large pulses aint generate that much heat as other large lasers, so they can sill be in use. Thats good thing for anyone who likes lasers. I suppose It would work as well with Python.

Ah, before someone (smaller ship owners) might yell, "You, you got Anaconda too, get out here, you maniac!" Would like to point, that distance trick still works. Viper or Cobra with fixed Multis still can do it as before that Anaconda missions. But its pew pew for long time to rid these shields of Elite Anacondas with smaller weapons :)

I would think these changes are in prep from Wings and co-op BHing... Anyway I think there isn't much point tweaking too much just now, until 1.2 shows it's face.

I had a great evening with the new AI last night (didn't see one other pilot in open where I was flying). I quickly swapped over from a well fitted out Eagle to my Cobra though, the changes have made things far more challenging (and enjoyable).

I'm curious if these people killing AI Elite Anacondas with an Eagle before were flying with vsync off. I had it on, and Elite Anacondas were never quite that easy. There was a bug where high frame rates and no vsync caused AI to go down the toilet, and this was fixed in 1.1.

Those players with vsync on anyway might not have seen quite such a dramatic difference than those with it off.

You're a hard worker Sarah Jane... AND you share a name with one of the best companions in Doctor Who.

Kudos to you :)

AND has the stones to come out here and slum it with us pesky players :p (Any chance you can shame some of the rest of the devs into doing the same?)

mad props

Tried again today. Mil-spec hull, class-A reactor, shield and PD, one A2 SCB and one A1 SCB, rest full-D spec. Two fixed beams, one gimbal MC. This is as far as I went:

Was doing a little better than yesterday, but still my reflex to situations need to be about twice as fast to ever have a chance of beating it. Reduced chaff is really bogging me down now. Increased heat from beam is not that much of a concern but still burnt my ship once while using a cell.

Gonna try again another day...for now I'm switching to a lightly-fitted Cobra.
