Elite / Frontier Elite on iPhone/iPad/Android?

Emulation-wise, the NES version of Elite (available from Ian Bell's site) has quite minimal, joypad-orientated controls. UAE4All can handle the Amiga version of Frontier nicely, but doesn't seem to have any CD32 functionality, which would've been bestest.

Would love a companion app - especially one with a system map so I don't have to keep closing the station services to check routes!

You might like one of the changes in Beta 3 then :)

Michael

That's quite a mic drop here Michael :) Android version too or it will come later? :D

edit: and I guess it might mean that you have improved integration of the map in station interface. In that case - thank you!

Didn't Michael confirm that the Galaxy Map can be opened from the station interface in Beta 3?

EDIT: well, kind of

It might not have make it in Beta 3, but yeah, that's improvement I am looking forward too.

Just give up on there ever being an offical new elite on anything, its dead and frontier developments clearly can't be bothered with it.

I have the origial versions running on dosbox (elite plus, frontier and ffe) and they run fine on my android phone and tablet so it really isnt an issue of power its simply that barben is more interested in Raspberry pi's then decades old fans who made his business possible.

Lets face it when it comes to cutting edge games all frontier developments put out is vapourware. Low grade tat for the wii is about all the can manage these days.

Ouch. I think its a tad harsh to call their games tat. Majority of them don't interest me but they all seem to be full of charm. I'd say they've probably played it a little too safe in the past but often stellar success is a bit of luck and having a fresh idea and being there at the right time and place; i.e. minecraft. ED on the other hand has the potential to be a complete masterpiece. I hope the studio in future can keep up producing games I'd like to play. ;)

Looking forward to the companion software they create for ED. Have the left panel on the galaxy map toggle-able and I could see that being an awesome thing to have on a tablet.
