Community Event / Creation Elite Racers present the Okinura Station Sprint Challenge

That is one fast Viper

EDIT: not as fast as Tannik Seldons Viper, but I didn't notice as I was too enthralled with how the ship was flying.
What? Never seen a spaceship drift before? :)

I'm sure a better pilot than myself could combine using FA off and landing gear to fly even faster.

edit: and besides, still only the 3rd-fastest Viper on the board, as Aken B. is also still >30s 25s faster as well.

Off topic, but speaking of drifting ... any fan of chase scenes who hasn't seen Baby Driver yet, needs to watch the opening scene below, and then go directly to the movie theater for the whole thing.

brilliant! I'm on my way... (only about 10 kylies to travel ;) )

Is that a metric minogue or an imperial jenner?

In the hope that you might do another of these in the future I shall renew my efforts to get into the top 6.

Roughly every end of month so long as it's not too similar to the previous video.

P.S. how do people do these side by side comparison videos?

Download each video, throw together on video editor, lots of math to get positioning and timing correct.

WOW! That is super cool to watch. Post that bad boy on /r/EliteDangerous ASAP, bet you get a whole bunch of new racers!

Good idea, have done so! :D

And WOW! to Suchi as well. That's the first time I've seen your run - I've watched it on it's own as well now.

Your pre-slot 180 looked amazing, does it often go wrong? I couldn't get the hang of reverse docking for Alot's Advanced Options race, so hats off to you for pulling it off in a super-fast, but pretty fragile viper. :D

I'll hopefully have a crack at this over the weekend, as well as prison brake.

PHARMAPHUCKINGCEUTICAL ISOCOCKINGLATERS

Well, that's 2hrs hours of my life I'll never get back.

I need to do a bit of engineering as well this weekend, as I need a little more jump range from Stormrider for Prison Brake. I went with Increased Range 2 for Armed and Dangerous to keep my mass down for maximum boost, and just barely had 27LY jump range (I had to manually plot the biggest jump thanks to galmap range bug that I thought they'd fixed).

I have a few spare PHARMAPHUCKINGCEUTICAL ISOCOCKINGLATERS, so it's a shame we can't transfer materials, I'd happily given you some. :)

Yes it does, badly. :D The whole race was an exercise in keening terror, as I hurtled a deathtrap recklessly through the dark and tried to adjust to the Viper's now-unfamiliar boost timings. Out of 5 runs 3 ended in explosions. Terrifying but SO MUCH FUN.

That said, drifting backwards into the mail slot is something I've done for fun randomly for ages. And I use a similar technique in CQC sometimes when grabbing powerups, so I can be pointed back towards the threat/battle as soon as I fly through the ring.

Last time (well, it was also the first time actually) I had to endure the struggle for cockingceutical phuckolators, I plotted a course for Google where it was revealed to me to search for high grade USS in systems in outbreak, preferably indipendent...20 minutes and two USS later, I had enough pharmacockical isophuckators for more than a dozen rolls.

Top Times for 2017 July.

Nice little comparison video
feels almost like the real events :D

That's not nice, nor little.

That's awesome. :D

Baby Driver

Off-topickery intensifies.

Today I spent three hours traipsing around London trying to find somewhere that would actually sell me the sunglasses Jon Hamm is wearing in that video.

Then I realised that was stupid and it would be easier to phone the companies listed as distributors on the Tavat - for such is the name of the brand - website. Most of them are closed on Saturday. The others don't have any stock.

So back to the first place I tried who said they will try to order me some in. Three cheers for the wonderfully named and very helpful Spex In The City in Covent Garden who are also an approved Randolph dealer. As seen at Lavecon.

Then I drank Hennessy XO at a bar in Hampstead which was a lot more relaxing.

If I put that much effort into acquiring a pair of sun glasses, the Universe would conspire to break them within the first hour of my possessing them. :)

But we really have to give credits to whoever put that much effort in coming up with Spex In The City as a name for a glasses shop. :D
Reminds me of the cool guy from Bangladesh who opened his tiny convenience store in my city, where the international Eataly food mall chain has its main store, and had the wit of naming it "Eat Alì". Humour is a powerful marketing tool.

Just submitted a new time in the Spirit Of Shenanigan:

Now off to try with something different...

@furrycat - that 03:36 in FA off :eek:...I can't even...

2:44

Finally! :D I was getting mildly annoyed because I knew my time wasn't that great and wanted an excuse to take another crack at improving it, but nobody seemed to be bothering... this race deserves active competition.

EDIT: What are these... brakes, you seem to be using? Truly novel. :p
