Elite randomly shuts down vive

For the last week or two ill be playing elite and the headset will randomly just crash shutting the displays down. Sometimes it will work for 10 minutes, sometimes an hour or so. It comes right back up when i start steamvr and restart the game. No other game is doing this, and this just started happening as i have about 200 houra clocked in ED VR. Any idea whats causing this?

This is very odd. Usually, for me, tis the other way around, if i quit the Steam VR software while running ED, THAT shuts ED down?..

Things I would check are:

PC PSU? The better the PSU the more stable a pc is.
USB port? My vive runs from a USB 3 port. a 2.0 port or less may be an issue.
Drivers [everyone says this but, tis true, latest drivers are more stable. Check for firmware updates for the vive and also GFX drivers.
I would also check your GFX card is VR ready. Some claim to be but in fact, are barely powerful enough.
Validate your installations of software/game files?
Run HDD tools - Defrag - Check for errors.

These are just off the top of my head but, maybe one of them could be the reason. HTH. )

1070 gpu with up to date drivers, 750w psu, usb also would not be a problem or it would cause issues with other games. Ive had my vive since april with no hardware difficulties, this is most certainly a software/settings issue in my opinion.

I tried reinstalling ED last night but it still happened. Considering reinstalling steamvr to see if that makes a difference.
