Elite Universe TTRPGs (possibly more) - Community Interest Thread

Elite's Universe has an insanely complex backstory. As such, I like to propose CMDRs getting together (virtually) to have a fun gathering of Elite Encounters RPG and Elite Dangerous RPG. The main goals would a fun gathering where we can all better learn the lore (past and present) of varying regions of the galaxy. If there is sufficient interest, this may be expanded to include Space Opera, Traveller, and Traveller 2300 RPGs. This is partly inspired by the forward to Elite Dangerous RPG where David Braben mentioned his inspiration for the series. I figure this might help the Elite Dangerous community find The Dark Wheel and Raxxla as Braben was heavily influenced by them. If you are interested, please drop your CMDR name, a few ideas for topics or regions of interest regarding the larger lore, and your timezone. I figure if enough are interested, I can setup something via Discord.

I am interested though whether or not I can make it depends on the scheduled game time (am in EST). Though of course I can be more flexible for a one-shot game than a regular one. I am most knowledgeable about modern Elite Dangerous though I am open to play in any time period. I have experience as a player and a DM in DND 5e, I have also built some characters for Halo Mythic but I have not been able to actually play a TTRPG outside of DND. My personal in game interests are Xenos, politics/conflict, conspiracy, piracy, bounty hunting, extradimensional entities and many other things as I am a jack of all trades in game. I am CMDR "Shreknomicon" aka Russ J Porter.

I am USA - Eastern time zone, too. I was kind of hoping there might be more interest. Just something that would be a fun way to learn the lore for various regions. I am hoping we may get some more responses in the next few days.

If you want an extra person I do have a good friend who is well versed with TTRPGs. Although while he owns a copy of Elite he does not know any of the lore yet. I could of course give him a good crash course on the basics if you would be interested in having him join the game despite this.

I have a long weekend since it will be a holiday weekend. I will try to start digitizing and putting together a discord. Apologies, real-life has been getting in the way of getting this accomplished.

Still working on it. Real-life isn't giving me as much time as I would like. The goal is by early July have everything ready so I can post discord invite and get started. I am trying but adulting, work, etc leaves me only so much time.

Update: Taking TTRPG docs and generating character sheets, vehicle sheets, ship sheets, careers, regional sector details. Also, learning how to get a RPG discord bot and role bot working. Have Elite Encounters RPG and Elite Dangerous RPG that I need to get sections up and ready. I plan to eventually add Traveller. I am trying for this to integrate as much of the lore as possible to make things interesting.

There was never enough interest in this. Besides, it became increasingly apparent that even setup of a discord to run would be complicated. Instead, for those interested in ways to actively participate with the lore and mysteries of Elite Dangerous please consider the PAX INTER ASTRA Movement that is being launched for the post-Titan era. It will combine logisics, research into the aliens and life of Elite Dangerous, and several other key areas to develop gameplay loops for PX-aligned (or at the very least de-escalate things so we don't have a forever war.

Okay, this idea may be doable on discord finally. They have added bots that specialize in TTRPG stuff. In process of building a character creator tool on a discord that will be purpose-built for at the very minimum Elite Encounters RPG and Elite Dangerous RPG so we can launch this. I still maintain this would be great way to interact with your fellow CMDRs and learn the lore all whilst having some fun.
