Ships Empire needs a Medium size ship

I like the Empire's ships all of them. I just wish there was a medium sized one. Something to go between the Imp Clipper and Imp Courier. I just feel the lack like there is a medium ship shaped hole that needs to be plugged.
It would be fast and sleek. There would be nacelles and a pointy nose. Loads of gleaming white paint. Dripping with elegance and style. To make those fed bricks look so bad.

Three or four gun mounts. Enough power to run them. Four utility mounts. Internals mostly C4 with C5 power plant. 1 x C5 2 x C4 2 x C3 and a C2 compartments.

I feel so "sqeee" about this. I just had to share.

I don't expect there to be one but, I would just LOVE one. :D It would be just so cool. The medium ships are so meh atm.

What would you like to see in a medium empire ship?

Yup. It certainly flies like a nimble, medium ship.

Being an Imperial Duke, I applaud the OP, if only that it would provoke an ocean of salty tears from the accursed Federalists. Let's not even imagine how the wretched Alliance would feel.

Oh yes, a medium sized Imperial ship? That would be lovely, but I strongly suspect we won't get it.

We can be justifiably grateful to FD for the Courier and Clipper, which are both superb vessels. There must be a limit to our avarice.

Actually, wait a minute, no there shouldn't be a limit!

Aaaah! A beautiful, shining white, MEDIUM sized Clipper! Bask in its ability to land at outposts! Bask in its effortless superiority to the FAS! Bask! Baaaaaaask....

Imperials get:
Fighter (CQC)
Eagle (small fighter)
Courier (small but medium power long range fighter)
Clipper (medium combat/trader, but large bays)
Cutter (large trader with teeth)

Feds get:
Condor (CQC)
Dropship (medium multipurpose)
Assault Ship (medium fighter)
Gunship (medium support)
Corvette (large fighter)

Seems all fair to me. I don't want to see any more faction specific ships locked behind a progression system is so broken, obtuse and annoying. They have enough.

We do need more medium ships, costing about 20mill, using a medium pad and competing with the FAS, Clipper and Asp for that middle tier.

Imperial Cobra. Sounds like it would out race the stars themselves.

I was thinking more like Imperial Asp. But less clunky.

I am all for a medium size Imperial ship, but only if it is an original Gutamaya design. No more refits a la Imperial Eagle, please. :D

There isn't a single ship in the game that really fills the same niche of the Cobra or Clipper for a medium docking bay; the closest is the Python which is too large and slow, or the Asp, which is too slow and inagile.

The Courier was so close to the perfect ship but it just needs a bit more firepower, it's still probably the best looking ship though and bonus points for not having 2S2M hardpoints :)

The DBS gets an admirable mention as well, if the DBE was more like just a plus-sized DBS and not a crippled Asp it would be a fantastic ship.

How about military spec Asp for the Federation and plus-sized Courier (or should I say the real courier, since it was always larger than the Cobra...) for the Imperials? Call it the Imperial Interceptor or something...

I have been thinking the same thing all week actually :)

If FD did it I guess it might be like this based on ships so far:
- 5 medium hardpoints
- slightly off gun convergence
- 2 wing nacelles - guns in these, 1 on top of main body and 2 below
- fancy wings
- white
- look like stretched Courier
- ringed cockpit
- Courier sidearm bits (in cockpit)
- lovely shields
- speed for combat build 415ms

Hmmm, I think that would be VERY tasty!!!!

I'd imagine a medium imperial vessel to be a lighter and faster python. Same armament (three large, two medium, possibly a better power distributor just for kicks), but trading away armor and internal space in favor of better speeds and maneuverability, with stronger shields by natural consequence. It'd fulfill the role of heavy fighter and attacker; a direct counterpart to the Fer De Lance, but with a more consistent and reliable armament. The icing on the cake would be to have it in this package:

I'd like to see the Imperial Trader from F:E2 and FFE make it into the game. That'd do as a candidate for a medium sized imperial ship for me.
