General ENABLE relative mouse (a little criticism of a new feature)

Thank you so much, FDev, for providing us (KB/M users) with a such useful function!

BUT.

Imho, this function should ENABLE the relative mouse control, because of KB/M users usually have the disabled relative controls.
Or INVERT which is better.
Currently, this feature forces us to make the relative control as default mode, which is not good.

This is my humble suggestion to revise this function.

As alternative, I suggest to provide us with the ability to set the mouse controls in details for FA On and FA Off separately.
This would be much useful.

Give us relative mouse....FDEV - here's relative mouse....that's not how we wanted it!

Surely this is just the usual customer being unable to define what they want, it happens all the time when programming. Customer says they want feature X, fail to define exactly what they want, feature X is provided as requested, but it's not quite what they actually wanted, what they actually wanted was something slightly different, they didn't define what they wanted clearly and got exactly what they asked for, not what they wanted.

Strongly disagree.
If you set the switch to TOGGLE instead of HOLD, there is literally no difference between enable or disable being the default.
If you set the switch to HOLD, the default mode is relative ON - which is what you would want when you're flying in real space/doing combat. Why would you want the default mode to be OFF, requiring you to constantly hold a button down when you're trying to perform combat?

Hi,

Disable Relative Mouse doesn't do anything unless you've turned relative mouse on already. For any mouse and keyboard player who isn't using relative mouse, it does nothing.

For any mouse and keyboard user who does use relative mouse, Disable Relative Mouse is initially unbound and not active so won't affect you unless you opt to have a bind to use it.

Thanks,
Dom

But the point is, if something is asked for and supplied and it's not what was wanted, then the original request for said feature is probably the cause, it probably didn't contain enough information to actually provide the desired functionality. I suggest getting together with the other players who want Relative Mouse and crafting a proposal that satisfies all desired functionality, because almost guaranteed if they adjust it to suit your desires someone else is just going to pop up who is unhappy with the changes.

So let me get this straight. In order to utilise this "new" function, I have to set relative mouse to enable by default, then bind a key to toggle it off?

There's already a difference. The default only can be one of them.
Disabled relative is the mode that people on KBM are usually using while flying cruise/realspace.
Once they FA Off, enabled relative is what they are looking for.
What difference does it make which mode is the default if a simple tap of the button switches between them?
It's only relevant if you're using HOLD mode, and nobody would want to HOLD a button to have relative mouse ON.

if a simple tap of the button switches
Why should I tap if I don't need that at the specific time?
Tapping every game session?
What if I do more exploration than combat?
(Don't suggest me to manually disable the relative controls in game settings for exploration, please)
It's inconvenient if people should change something to opposite in their defaults to make thing work.

Btw, what are you using to play ED?

This is a pointless passive agressive string of rants. You have the ability to toggle relative mouse with a button. You can find as many arguments for relative mouse as against it, if you argue long enough. Just enable it, bind the toggle and enjoy your new quality of life. When in doubt, check for the state of it with a flick or two with the bound button.

I think that is a problem you will have to deal with by yourself.
I think this is the answer to most Suggestion threads.
Because people have problems with some game aspects and want something to be changed.
...what's the meaning of the Suggestions forum then?
After all, I'm not asking to remove the feature, I'm asking to improve it, so the people who enjoy it will not be harmed by suggested changes.
