End of Hellion game developement

Это не стыд, это Ранний доступ со всеми плюсами и минусами.

Жаль, что они не смогли закончить это. Это то, что я имел в виду. ;)

Google translate... so not my fault. ;)
Just saying..

Nearly 2 months later I still find very weird the only place where cancelation has been announced is through Steam and nowhere else. Still nothing on their website, facebook or twitter (can't check their Discord). And almost no news on gaming news sites.

With silence, it ends... too. And it's utterly sad.

I am in their Discord and the devs has been very silent in there also. Afaik they are investigating now how to transfer the server ownership to moderators of Hellion Discord so they can upkeep those. Dunno what the devs themselves are up to though.

Shame indeed. It's just one of those really promising kickstarter projects that didn't seem to hit the right balance of being early access and meaningful in the content. At least that was the main reason I didn't go for it. Just not enough there to plump for it.

Oh, but the content is there if you want it to be. I have over 200hrs in and it didnt come without content, and i dont even do PvP.
Even merrier if you play with couple of friends, thats where the fun begins. :)

Quite not as hardcore and hardscifi (to say the least) but has someone tried Breathedge?

Looks lika a nonsensely humorous take on space survival, quite similar to Subnautica...

Not yet but I watched a bit of a let's play before release. If that's what it was. Had some soviet, duct-tapey look which i found kinda interesting. I haven't played Subnautica but a fair bit of this type of game. The space-themed ones I always found more interesting.
Hellion disqualified for me with its initial design and mixed PvP / survival. There is nothing I hate more than wanton destruction of my precious sandcastle. I think it's just utter waste of time when it involves a lot of time to get anywhere. I think it was probably too late to turn around that aspect in the end - even with the interesting concepts they developed over time.

^ As i have mentioned, i have played in private server with friends, no PvP problem there. :)
And its not even expensive, server rent for 4-6 people is just under 10 euros or so, so thats just few euros per head per month, which i pay gladly to get rid of gankers and stuff.

Ye, having the tools to manage your shard is pretty essential. PvP is fine when it's just fair combat or RP. I do a similar thing in Barotrauma. Still even not actually wanting to grief I managed to annoy ppl just by being curious. (tried out what can be done with wiring and reconnected stuff wrong by acvident)

I played on a private discord server...which was free and also had no PvP by a gentleman's agreement by those who used it. Similar to Mobius in a way. Hellion was tough enough without having some troll group kill you and nick all yer gear.

Agree. Although you have the option to relocate your base anywhere you want reduces the possibility of finding your base. If you move Haven for example to the very outer edge of Bethyr, chance is that no one will ever find it. :D
But then again, they buffed the scanning mechanics in some of the latest updates and now it seems that that thing can pin point things from very, VERY far, giving a ballpark estimate location of something.

And, you can always live around at some other moon of Hellion when you get better nanite cores and suits. ;)

Eliptical orbits used to be the thing...with some other fancy astronomical words thrown in to describe it. I flew da ships...some mates vastly more intelligent than me used to work out the orbits and use all the big words :D

Have you tried KSP? It is - among other things - THE tool that made me understand basic principles of orbits, transfers and manouvers in space.

One big mistake, dayz in space is not interesting, you need a story, and you need PVE options. I hope Frontier looked at it, made notes and is now making a good space DLC for ED with Legs. They manage to do that and they will win the space race by far, if not by by ED.
