Well done CMDR Chiggy Vonrictofen! Much rep to you for your great compassion and commitment. We salute you. o7

I have just sat down here after pulling off the vive headset and downed TWO glasses of tawny port just to calm down.

It will take me a while to digest this: Chiggy's unstinting efforts have me speechless. It was one thing to accept his PM to buckyball to my rescue but quite another to drop into the galaxy map to see his progress live (and the speed of it). And everyone's support here also. I messed up (and let's be honest, I am a 'clumsy' player at the best of times - I role-play this far more than I do 'game' it!) and had given up on the Lakon Type 6E. It was my mistake and this game above many others makes you pay for that (one reason I am addicted). But the support and encouragement from everyone changed everything around. Yes, Chiggy did the actual rescue - but the emotional rescue came from all of you. Every one. There hasn't been a snide or sarcastic or trolling comment here at all. Not one. When that Germanium popped out, I panicked knowing that the whole community was supporting me while also feeling that this moment was now never going to happen. In that moment of panic, I rallied. I rallied because this community was wishing me well and not waiting for me to fail. That made a difference in a live stream (something I have never done before).

You all made a difference tonight and I for one am thankful!

Then again two glasses of tawny port are making me emotional . . .

Heh, there wasn't a commander watching your various goofs and bobbles that wasn't thinking "Yeah, done that. And that. And I didn't have an audience or a tight situation to get out of how is this chap even functioning at this point?"

Fantastic. Best post/thread I've read here. Warms my heart to read this and so overjoyed it worked out. Can't think of another game this could happen in. Congrats.

I started following this thread when it was only about 4 pages deep. I've got to say this is probably my favorite Elite: Dangerous experience, and I wasn't even an active part of it. Watching this all unfold has been truly amazing. Hats off to both of you CMDRs. o7

Beers on me.
Cant wait to get out of work (us pacific time) so i can toast Chiggy and Macedonica on such a feel good story and outcome.
And you're right Macedonica the whole community was pulling for you when that Germanium popped out. I told my boss I was taking an extended lunch so i could watch the live stream.
When it popped i was scrambling between screens to up date this thread and watch you scoop.

Well done to you 2 and everyone supporting this humble Commander.

cant rep anymore either/

Have a 3rd glass - you deserve it, drink it to Chiggy.

This is where we need a bank accounting system in ED. I'd happily donate a million credits to CMDR Chiggy!

Maybe a CG, where we can deposit commodities or something for the hero CMDR?

Well done! Good show!

*fuel-rat hat off*

Can we give Chiggy an honorary fuel rat decal perhaps?

(Not sure if that's something everyone else would agree with in the rats, don't see why not but don't want to speak for everyone hence the hat off bit).

Wow, the rescue happened while I was driving home from work!!!

Congrats on being rescued Mace, and very well done Chiggy! That was both an inspiring and impressive effort. I can't believe you buckyballed it out there in the span of one day, just traveling out to Colonia is a big effort for me!!!

Yeah, no kidding, I'm contemplating this myself. If Frontier ever implements a lightweight mining laser blueprint I think I'd definitely carry one everywhere.
