End of the Road

Yep!

Rail gun is another one I'm tempted to drop, as it burns so little fuel in one go that the process can be quite tedious if you're on a full tank.

Jump back and forth between Systems in reach. The rail gun is for the Detail work at the end of the process until I can reach that far-away system. Mine is light weight, only 0,4 tons, can live with it on a conda even if I may never use it.

Bah, with a weight like that I can live with it on an ASPX just as well. Once removed my lightweight beams but the difference in jump range was so minuscule I kept them (for fun during planetary flyovers and just in case). Though NOW one of them is mining laser and the other one will be, it seems, replaced by a rail gun! You learn something new every day...

Still a great tale :D

I think we probably all fitted mining lasers there for a while. Pointless really when there's Chiggy :D

As an aside... I recall using a mining lance for combat (defence) back in First Encounters....it'd shred a hull pretty good

As someone who had to repair his own ship with limpets, I can assure you it works.

When I go on a months-Long Expedition that will potentially yield me hundreds of millions worth of scan data, I bring every sort of fire extinguisher with me. There's not much risk involved in Exploration anymore, beside losing months worth of data in one go. So limpet repair Controller, empty cargo with synth mats, HSL, AFMU, Mining laser and Plasma Slug Railgun are always on board.

Real life example: when freeriding, I always bring my avalanche transceiver beacon and a showel with the firm intent to never use them :)

+1
This is a hoopy frood who really knows where his towel is.

Finally visited this place where history was made!

Oh, two more things:

First: after six months in the black, suddenly being confronted with a swarm of Saud Kruger ships around a tourist beacon made me a bit nervous.

Second: with all the new engineering since the epic rescue, the space up to and slightly beyond Beagle point is completely accessible without any boosts in my T6 now

I frequently find myself chuckling at the memory of Cmdr Macedonica’s “outburst” when the first chunk of Germanium is released from the asteroid. Well worth watching the video just for that moment.

I wonder whether DWE2 will visit this marker?

Flying happy
