Energy allocation Hot Keys (Pip Management)

I might be missing something obvious here...but is it possible to Directly Access certain pip allocation selections (IE 4 Eng/2 Wpn, 4 Wpn 2 Eng, 4 Sys/2 Eng) etc and have them assigned to certain hot keys?
I've got the usual pip mgmt set up on my "Coolie Hat" but it can take a bit of unnecessary thumb work to juggle between them...I wondered if there were hot keys to directly access them...
Or do I need to set them up via the inelegent solution of having a macro that goes Balance First...and then whatever combination of clicks gives me my desired pip set-up ?

Not sure if this has been said before but I would like to see pips added to firegroups or even have pipgroups implemented.

Correct, you have to use a macro (or a Voice Attact, for example) There's no option in the game for that.

Yep. I've got a VA macro that pumps four pips to wherever via my stick's hat switch. Thus you can set 4-0-2 combo's where you like very quickly (two clicks).

The alt key allows single pip transfer.

Since i gave up on target and macros and I feel voice attack for time crucial things is a bit risky, I am considering a small button box just for that purpose. It seems like a cool way to adjust pips. I am just not sure if momentary buttons or rotary switches would be better.

I've programmed my coolie hat to do four clicks in the chosen direction (except reset) so that I can have max pips with one buttonpress. I can also get any 4-2-0 or 4-1-1 combo with two buttonpresses.

No in game option, because someone thinks it's more fun to have your fingers making a bunch of crazy movements to try and get the right combination. I don't see why we can have two or three presets programmable in game.

Z...

We have key binding options for just about anything....except pips. My poor thumb, it really hurts due to pip micro-management!

For mouse and keyboard users, the mouse wheel can be set up; scroll back - systems, scroll forward - weapons, click wheel - reset, for pips to engines bind a suitable key.

I use a G13 pad, and have a Full Power: Systems, Full Power: Engines, Full Power: Weapons key mapped for this. I also have a few custom power levels set as well. Very handy thing, but as stated, there is no game default setting to do this.

I've created several VA macros which I add to all the HCS Voicepacks. I spent time adjusting the timings so that it adjusted the pips as quickly as the game will allow (which is usually 2-3 times faster than the HCS commands):
Set Attack: 3-0-3
Set Assault: 0-2-4
Set Guard: 4-2-0
Set Cruise: 2-4-0

After that it's easy enough to just do one or two clicks to fine tune things (e.g. Set Attack and then a couple of clicks to either be 4-0-2 or 2-0-4).

This is free and works great.

I have the 10keypad set to various things, including a few common PIP settings I like.
For example "9" sets my initial combat PIP setting I usually begin with. "8" is similar but less shield more wep. when I see I'm fighting a weaker ship or am one of my own better ones. 7 is my cruising setting.
I set 1 through 6 to do other utilities like my Vulture which is power starved I made a long macro to deactivate FDL and a few other items I do not need in combat so I hit "1" and it quickly kills off cargohatch, FDL and other non-combat items so while I'm in battle I'm only powering essential things. I really need to get on the engineers to help that poor vultures power issues!
