Engineering unlock requirement.... bizarre and meaningless requests.

We need an engineer to lead people astray:

Gank 10 new players (access to G6 Dirty drives)

Gain Notoriety 10 by only killing cruise liners (access to G6 PA)

Enslave 10 new players in a mining Ponzi (access to fleet carrier engineering)

I'm not sure how serious you are, but an engineer that only deals with notorious players could be quite interesting. Add a bit more to the pirate playstyles...

And then you could have law abiding engineers that refuse to work with you. Player agency or something i dunno.

Apex is great! Gives options. Dont want to fly back? Call an apex. Searching for guns? Use apex. Feel like flying? Use your own ship.Want to visit that engineer.. Call an Apex

So far I did not get stuck. (using apex) You may have gotten unlucky.. Or read a post of a CMDR that got unlucky.
It occurred to me that I am actively avoiding most of Odyssey's new content. On-foot missions are often bugged, AI and C&P is wonky, handing in missions is a 50:50 lottery, collecting and trading mats with the bartender already cost me some items because of a Black Adder, Apex tends to keep you hostage, generated POIs disappear while you are interacting with them...

All I am doing now is flying my own ship from outpost to outpost looking for upgraded equipment.

Half serious, in the past a lot of people including myself had ideas about missions only appearing to people with notoriety- so for example clean players only see clean missions, morally flexible individuals see missions about murder etc (but its a conscious choice- i.e. the underworld aspect only unlocks if you are a killer).

It's actually pretty hilarious concept that you can walk to a new station hub and somebody is immediately "HEY PSST! You got a gun? I have a person who I need murdered."

Apex IS great.
Just avoid destinations on ringed planets or high G planets.

Out of curiosity, what is the "requirement" for engineering in EDO compared to EDH? I've always felt that at least some engineering of my ship was "necessary" to take that ship from being kinda rubbish to being usable (for example, my engineered Cobra is 100 times more fun than a vanilla Cobra). Is it the same for suits and hand weapons, or is it more of an optional thing in EDO?

Judging by the bullet sponginess of a high security CZ? Absolutely required, if you actually want to survive.

I miss the days when skill rather than time grinding senseless, boring things determined if you won a battle or not. Speaking of, it's Anniversary Week in Overwatch, so I think I'll play that instead, where the only "grind" (playing the game for fun) goes to unlocking cosmetics rather than "I win" weapons.

I'm definitely not paying full price for this DLC is half the content is locked behind "bizarre and meaningless" grind.

None

IN EDO, with some searching and some luck, you can get G3 weapons and suits (that is in Shops!), sometimes with empty engineering slots, sometimes with mods already fitted.

And a G3 suit/weapon is more than enough, even with no mods fitted.

Okay then, this is encouraging.

Some luck indeed, there's an entire thread trying to figure out how high Grade buyables work. I got super lucky it seems that I managed to buy a Grade 3 Maverick suit then.
Current theory is that they restock at the Thursday tick; not sure if that's all the vendors that had those items, or if it's random as to who gets what yet, but we're testing that... ;)

I actually prefer luck over d2ea witchcraft and gimmicktry. I'm assuming engineered stuff is not need for ALL foot gameplay, just the high-end minigames like CZs. I'm more interested in exploring, scavenging, salvaging, and sneaking around than I am Battlefront pew pew.

Yeah for those hunt for a better suit, and get some QoL upgrades. Longer oxygen, better runspeed, night vision.
