Flying through fast isn't a problem. Stopping before you hit that pillar at the other end, that could be.They have a greater mass and power draw than normal thrusters.
If you're looking for max range, use D class thrusters and engineer them.
If you're looking for fun, use them and see just how fast you can fly through the slot!
I was actually thinking about this, my iCourier needs a refit and I just unlocked Pack Hounds, soooo.....Yes, I have used them...
On a couple of other ships too, but yes, the ship has to be nice and light to work with them.
They are good on light, racing builds.
On heavy combat builds they underperform.
They are pretty niche, because they only go up to class 3. I'd very much like them up to size 4, that way they'd see more use.

Because enhanced thrusters have lower optimal mass, so ships with lower total weight benefit from them more.On the Courier and iEagle in heavy armor they preform very well, but on a heavy build Viper I believe regular A drives outperform them. Not sure why though.
I've got a Viper III that's mostly 1D HRPs and it still goes faster with the Enhanced Performance + Drive Distributor than it would with A-rated and Drag Drives. On the Courier and iEagle in heavy armor they preform very well, but on a heavy build Viper I believe regular A drives outperform them. The enhanced drives have very stricht weight limits, the Viper III already has 50t base hull. Kit it out with anything, and you're pretty much guaranteed to exceed mass limits to a point where standard A thrusters become better. On the Courier and iEagle in heavy armor they preform very well, but on a heavy build Viper I believe regular A drives outperform them. Yeah, would be tempted to use my rares trading rum running Cobra again, which hasn't seen the light since 2015.Enhanced thrusters for the CM3! <3
