Not many have mentioned this but I, personally will have 3 FC's and 3 Fleets ships after Tuesday.
I will probably move my PS FC to a locale near bubble and close to where the action will be and leave it there with all services and 5 years upkeep.
Apparently, this will remain static there forever at that position from the 'Live EDH4.0' point of view from 29th even if I move it on PS to elsewhere.
I can use this as a base whenever I visit the area and can land my Live Cmdr ships there if I want and swap credits or use as base!.

My current PC FC will become 2 FC's on 29th (1 in EDH3.8 Legacy and 1 in EDH4.0 Live), and so I will select my current Plat. mining Hotspot as mining and exploring base for current PC and 1 will remain there in Legacy (from 'Live' point of view) also forever. Also with 5 years upkeep.

My 3rd (Live) EDH4.0 FC - I will use for zooming around wherever I feel the need or where the story and CG's take us. Also with 5 years upkeep.

Look on the bright side. Finally, you can play in Open without PvP when using legacy!

My guess is only some hardcore explorers will stay in legacy 3.8

Will get very confusing for FC names and any bookmarks.

The 'lets tidy up FC's and get rid of Legacy FC's' brigade will be pulling their hair out as suddenly the number of FC's in Galaxy double up!

FCs don't double up, the numbers of versions of ED that does.

128 of them go to the 3.8 server
128 of them go to the 4.0 server

Of those 128 on the 4.0 server, those which were owned by players whose accounts only have cmdrs on console that they never copied to PC.... either run out of money and get decommissioned, or get deleted instantly due to having no associated cmdr owning them, we don't know the specifics yet.

FCs don't double up, the numbers of versions of ED does.

Yep, easy enough to understand as "The number of carriers doubles, but only because the number of galaxies doubles"

Unless you have a fleet carrier, those other accounts should remain unchanged.

Both my current accounts have 1 billion + cr. so I'm not really concerned about progression.

I'm mostly concerned about avoiding all the annoying little bugs and interface that infest 4.0.

3.8 is just a far better gameplay experience for the content I like--ship building/engineering & combat.

About the only thing that would convince me to put up with all the things I dislike in 4.0 is if FDev actually did the Engineering rebalance they teased.

As it is, I'll watch the "story" on youtube.

My main has a Carrier (plus 17+ billion), the others don't.
Unless Frontier screw up really bad with the update (content wise) & force players like myself into a 'goid gankfest, then I'm happy to advance & evolve with the game, as I'v always done.
Only once since Odyssey's launch have I loaded up the Horizon version of the game.......that was to get out of the 'trapped on a Planet surface at launch' loop bug, that got into the game. Not even sure that my Horizon version is up to date on the download front

As for which version of gameplay is/was a better experience, then that's just personal preference & for me I'm happy with what I'm getting atm

I play 3x PC accounts and i was occasionally playing my XB account too (especially during certain CG)

I would definitely not be able to play 7 accounts (3x Live, 4x Legacy)
So yea, it seems it will be only Live for me (i wasnt doing much 3.8 playing anyway - just some raws farming mostly and the occasional swap to 3.8 as an workaround for a bug)

I have 6 currently, 3 on PC, 3 on PS4, so come Wednesday I'll have 9.
Following transfer the plan was for the PC accounts work in the Bubble and the console accounts to explore. That plan is still the most likely course (split Legacy & Live) though now with rather a lot more cmdrs exploring.

Nope, not really.
Presumably they will be independent games (separated galaxies and cmdr accounts)
So Legacy carriers wont be visible in Live nor vice versa.

The total number of carriers wont double post U14

Your discoveries will remain in the mode used. This dog isn't going to grind two universes.

Additionally, my FC does a lot of trading. No matter which mode I choose, I will be losing customers.
