Took the time to mostly explore a system (well ringed planets only) and could not sell it at my next stop because it was within 20ly. But it did show me in red that it would be worth about 20,000 cr. Fair enough, I thought, I will sell it at my next stop which was 50ly away. Got there and there was no data listed to sell.
