Eurasia animals: requirements and thoughts

Agree on grassland
Is there a native tropical population of wild boar or is it an invasive population?
Correct me if I’m wrong, doesn’t frontier only list animals in their native ranges rather then their invasive? Example the dromodary and red fox are not listed in Australia

That makes sense for the Saiga
Native in tropical India. I think also native in tropical SE Asia.

All this changes if it is subspecific ofc.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the Wild Boar actually evolved in Southeast Asia and dispersed from there. Weird to think about isn't it lol.
Hmm so would this mean the Polynesian pig that we see in Hawaii could be the wild boar? In the USA some call the wild boars razorback, I’m not entirely sure if they are the same animal as the wild boar that we are getting or not

My guess in terms of biomes is:
Mute Swan: Aquatic, Temperate
Saiga: Grassland
Takin: Taiga, Temperate
Sloth Bear: Grassland, Temperate, Tropical
Wild Boar: Grassland, Taiga, Temperate, Tropical
Wisent: Temperate, Taiga, Grassland
Wolverine: Taiga, Tundra, and maybe Temperate
Hermann's Tortoise: Grassland

I think:

Wild boar - Aquatic, Desert, Grassland, Taiga, Temperate, Tropical
Why aquatic? I'm not sure about desert either. Also the mximum amount of biomes that an animal can have in game is 5, so I think they will have grasslands, temperate, taiga and tropical.

Wild boar are known to be extremely competent swimmers and live in wetlands. They also do live in semi-desert and true desert light environments which Frontier considers to be desert

Didn’t realise that, so probably desert can be dropped.

I'm not informed on this topic in particular, but Polynesian Islands are pretty isolated Biogeographically, so it is likely those pigs were introduced into Hawaii by humans. As for Feral Pigs in the US, those are domesticated pigs gone feral. When the animals are subjected to the elements, their Phenotype changes pretty quickly. Interesting topic to research.

I'd have to agree with Aramar here, as the competent swimmer and wetland use argument would make most Animals in the game Aquatic compatible. I have the same concern about the P. Monkey for instance. I can understand African Buffalo and Indian Rhino for instance, since they actually wallow a lot and have a Water Requirement in the game. I wouldn't also mind Tigers getting the Aquatic Tag. I'm iffy about the Raccoon as well, not sure it suits them.

The pigs were introduced by the Hawaiians when they came over
I just wonder if a Polynesian pig is the same thing as a wild boar
So razorbacks are not the same creature as wild boar as they are feral pigs? Frontier release the dlc so we can clarify this please!

I would say an animal that actively lives in coasts or wetlands as a habitat is an aquatic biome animal. Especially since aquatic in game is just ‘semi-aquatic’ or lives in wetlands (like Nile lechwe). Otherwise, what’s the point of the aquatic biome?

Proboscis monkeys are known as a mangrove animal so have to be aquatic.

Raccoons are known as wetlands/riverside animals. I would argue that the aquatic biome suits them more than any other.

Domestic pigs are domesticated wild boar. They are considered separate species

Razorbacks are introduced populations of wild boar to my knowledge but I imagine some locations have both

Pigs were domesticated from the Wild Boar but if you are asking whether Hawaii or North America will be included in the Zoopedia Map, probably it won't, as Introduced Populations and Domesticated Forms of a Wild Species are not included in these Maps unless it is the Domesticated Form we are getting. You might find the following Article interesting:

What I'm trying to say is we need to draw the line somewhere, or every Animal is going to get most Biome Tags. For instance Wolverines live in Cold Desert and Steppe environments in Mongolia and Kazakhstan, where persistent Spring Snow allows them to breed, but does this warrant them the Desert Tag in the game? Perhaps Aquatic and Wetlands should have been separate. I can see all the mentioned Species getting Wetland but Aquatic feels like they should be somewhat Semi-Aquatic in their lifestyle.

Anyone got access to the data base? I sow someone posted a video, watched a bit but it didn’t cover everything detail
I sow that the swan gets a good amount of enrichment with other animals
Can anyone confirm for me if they are going to list wild boar and mute swan as North America?

I don't think they have, if I recall videos correctly. I belive Swan is Europe and Asia, and Boar is the same + Africa.
