Every body in Sol system already mapped by me, when I haven't...

1) Provide you with premade maps - Apply normal mapped overlay on bodies and pretend you've already mapped those bodies.

or...

2) Provide you with premade maps - Don't bother applying normal mapped overlay on bodies and don't pretend you've already mapped those bodies.

Same result, without the 'pretend' nonsense.
who's pretending? You just got too hung up on assumption that you're the only one who can make planets mapped. Blue overlay is just an indicator that tells you that you have map of certain planet on your ship's computer - evidently not necessarily that you've personally mapped it. if Map=1 then BlueOverlay=1
Your solution of having mapped planets without mapped overlay, because you have not mapped them personally, but they came with permit, would only be confusing.

Does the system map say "You have mapped this planet"? (Can't check Sol right now, I just ran out to test the new FSS thingy)
It's not important, just a bit weird, though.

And I wish, UC would share all the data on all systems collected by all pilots. The current system is a mockery. My nav system clearly knows the number, position, orbits and types of all the discovered planets in a system but it won't tell me unless I do the FSS dance. The galaxy is too big for everyone to have to scan everything on their own.

<sigh> The game is.

If I click on a planet that I have not mapped and it states in the info box 'You have already mapped this planet', that is the game 'pretending' that I have personally mapped it to cover the fact that it has pre-mapped it. No assumptions required.

Anyway, all mileage has run out on this...
