Following this very good point in the Thargoid war thread, a very important fact which is not at all obvious for Commanders who became war-involved in the last week—despite being well-known to anyone involved for more than a few months—is that Titan systems are as good as impervious while too many Control systems exist. As Sol is now a Titan system, this now applies to Sol:
The closest Elite itself comes to revealing what one should be doing is this message, with the misleading name The Invasion of Sol:
That picture is after scrolling down to the third page of text in that message, where finally it admits:
Many new Commanders are asking first about starship builds and such; as difficult as it can be to resist answering directly, the response really needs to be:
Even that panel itself needs scrolling down to see the real useful information, which is that Top Systems list. Throughout the week, that list will provide a live answer to the question of where one should attempt a defence rather than flying to Sol, and in order of popularity which best helps everyone else by aiding concentration.
Exactly what to do in a Invasion system or Control system is another question entirely, although I have a very concise overview close to the top of the Thargoid war thread (start with Invasion systems). I would draw attention to the red Under Attack Port symbol also visible in that picture above, and more specifically in the System map.
Depending how things go and whether future any Invasion systems have hastened timers as they do this week, there may be a future scenario where it becomes better to focus on Control systems first instead, but for now it is best to stop Invasions first. Either way, please get everyone to start from the top of that Thargoid War panel list!
- Defending or evacuating Sol ports has exactly no effect, nor will it while the Titan is present.
- Attempting to destroy the Titan core has close to zero effect, until the number of Control systems reaches three or fewer (see Titan Vulnerability Changes).
- For completeness, rescuing Bio-storage capsules from the Titan does help Counterstrike Control systems a bit, despite being inefficient with only four such systems around.

Titan Cocijo cannot be assaulted directly yet—first the Thargoids must be pushed out of systems around Sol
Many new Commanders are asking first about starship builds and such; as difficult as it can be to resist answering directly, the response really needs to be:
- Thankful for helping or seeking to help.
- Introduction to the Thargoid War panel on the Galaxy map.
- Actual answer to the original question, perhaps in light of understanding the immediate goal.
