Everything basic zoo animals pack

Theres a lot of animals that are easily accessible for zoos and parks and still interesting (especially birds :))) I'd like a pack like this
I agree! Even though I am a mammal lover. Imo the game can't have too many mammals. Even the dreaded carnivores (especially clones like Bat-eared Fox or Sumatran Tiger) are always welcome additions to me! I have even thought I wouldn't buy a single mammalless DLC. HOWEVER, I know the game could use more birds. So much so that I support wholeheartedly a fully bird DLC/Animal Pack when I didn't originally. To be honest I feel like THREE animal packs is needed to give birds their representation. That coming from a mammal lover.

i think i love you

I like the idea in theory, though I'm not sold on the list of animals. It would be a hard sell for casual players...

What about something called "Zoo Essentials" that included five highly-requested species commonly found in zoos that are quite clearly missing from the game (black rhino, dromedary camel, red river hog, golden-lion tamarin or howler monkey, and a walk-through bird exhibit) and a whole mess of new building items (200+) that are "essential" to zoo building. Admittedly, my focus here would be more on the scenery than the animals but I do think the animals could drive this one given how common those are in zoos!

It could include two "vintage"-style zoo building sets with pieces that could be used to re-create zoos and menageries from different eras (envisioning early 1900s and 1980s here). Including but not limited to new mesh/netting pieces, wrought-iron bars, pieces to more easily re-create moats or small concrete pools, rubble items for brick/stone wall sets, etc. Maybe some new pathing. It would also include other "essentials" like pieces to re-create gift shops, carts/stands for food, turnstiles, parking lots, more backstage pieces, etc.

The scenario could be an empty, abandoned zoo that hasn't been in use since the 1970s with older, turn of the century habitats (e.g., concrete slabs with bars, bear pits, etc.) that you need to update to modern standards.

I really like this take, because its kind of the Conservation Pack but flipped around. Where the Conservation DLC was modern with focus on eco friendly and sustainability this Pack could be more old timey and vintage. And a bunch of giftshop, parking a overall guest centric pieces would be a really nice contrast to the keeper/backstage heavy props and scenery that we got with Conservation.

Exactly! It would be a nice way to fill-in some gaps in the game all at once. I could also see there being fun things to add via the update (some new foliage; maybe a new shop type or habitat gate format; elevators). I haven't been a fan of the DLC formats for a while because there are so many "obvious" pieces missing that won't ever fit into the themed packs the way they do them. But "zoo essentials" is kinda perfect for a lot of that stuff.

Although I am feeling a little cringe about my animal list. But I was just trying to squeeze in animals that are super common in zoos to the point where it feels odd not to have them.

The tricky bit is that the black rhino and dromedary, while both would make folks happy... I can't help but wonder if people just scream "clone" and hate the pack as a result, ignoring the in-depth scenery bits. It would obviously appeal to the folks who like to go deep into building. But it might struggle with that specific animal selection. Maybe if you replaced the rhino or camel with something else (but then you steer a bit far away from the "zoo essentials" idea, TBH LOL).

Not too say they aren't common in zoos but it's just funny that the only one of them I've seen before is the dromedary.

Swap the black rhino (not particularly common in zoos) for a habitat bird. I'd go with the grey crowned crane. Otherwise sounds fantastic.

Considering how much basic animals are needed I thought we could discuss this.
I am really curious of your opinions.

Do you want a pack made out of basic zoo animals?

What animals would you put in it?

These animals that I have chosen are present in nearly all smaller or lower budget zoos and it would be great if we could see them in the game:

1. African or Indian Crested Porcupine - Africa or Asia
2. Reeves muntjac - Asia
3. Coati - SA
4. Serval - Africa
5. Greather rhea - SA
6. Patagonian mara - SA
7. Collared Peccary - SA
WE: Common marmoset - SA

Honorable mentions:
Dromadery - hope to see it in the Drylands pack
Blackbuck - perfect for Anniversary animal
These are almost all exotic animals to me here in Sydney. I’ve worked at three different zoos and none of them had any of those species except for the common marmosets. It’s interesting how “common” or “boring” is so different depending on global location or region :). I’d have to travel a fair bit to see all of those!
  • Dubbo Western Plains used to hold Rhea and Mara but doesn’t anymore, they do still have Blackbuck.
  • Hunter Valley has serval.
  • Melbourne used to have coati and peccaries but doesn’t anymore.
  • Western Sydney has a porcupine which was very exciting to me.
  • Nobody has a muntjac.
  • Dromedary camels are pests here, but they are in a few zoos. They are indeed boring. 🤣

I think we’ve actually got most of what is considered “common” and boring in my region: wombats, kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, emus, meerkats… We just need birds 😉.
