Everything wrong with Planet Coaster

I'd like to start off and say I love this alpha so far. This game shows so much potential and it is mind blowing. As good as things are now, there are many things that need to be changed/addressed. Here is a list of the current things that have bugged me with the game. These are my opinions and nobody else's.

Entrance to the park:
Prebuilt entrance to the park (WE DO NOT NEED THIS. LET THE PLAYERS CREATE THE ENTRANCE TO THE PARK!)

Can't make a parking lot or anything.

Path System:

Can't make plazas/big open areas

Paths all have circular edges (There should be an option to change the edges),

Ride Entrances should not be forced down the player's throat (If I want want a person standing at the entrance I will place him/her there. If I want an obnoxious yellow coaster track entrance I should be the one placing that. Can I please have my queue connect to the path without these unnecessary things?)

No row queues for roller coaster rows.




Once again these are my issues with the game I'd like to hear your issues down below.

Coaster builder and all stuff of the builder are not officiel part of the first alpha.

So i cant understand to talk about it. ..


"Everything wrong with...." Sounds a little bit hard i think.


In one thing i will be with you: its much todo

But i like the game and the Potential. Its getting big

Can't make paths 100% straight (No grid like path that I've seen)

Can't make plazas/big open areas

Coaster Editor:
Too simplified. (I understand the need for the coaster builder to be something anyone can use but we also need an advanced editor for the more skilled builders.)

Loops and other elements are not scale-able. (I have heard this is as of right now.)

Coasters have a pre-built station platform (We should be the ones making the platform and placing the objects. Coasters should start as a piece of track with brakes.)

Can't test the coaster while its being built (No ghost train feature)

Can't edit the booster wheel speed

Can't change lift hill speed

Can't make coaster track that has its own degrees instead of the basic degrees.

Curves can be super rough and hard to edit.

Can't click on a point and change the values of the track similar to Theme Park Studio etc.



Once again these are my issues with the game I'd like to hear your issues down below.


The final Coaster editor isn't in the game yet. If you had seen all the Dev Blogs you would know that once we get the full coaster editor the Loops and Inversions will be scale-able. Also I don't know if you've noticed but within your Coaster Editor there is a little button that says "Test" and it also says "Coming Soon" So yes you can test your Coaster and no you don't have to tell the devs this because yes they made RTC3 and they know to add a Coaster Test. Also within your Coaster Builder, right above the track scales and to the right of the cogwheel there are arrows facing up that allow you to smooth your track and that includes curves too. As far as not being able to change lift hill speed, you will be able to, again not the final coaster builder. They weren't even going to allow it into Alpha 1 but people begged so they did, so rest assured that Lift Hill speeds will come, also the boosters don't work right now period, again not the Final Coaster Builder. Also yes you can make paths 100% straight, right above your path selections there is an option that turns on angle snap, allowing straight paths. Also I feel like there should be pre-built entrances for folks that don't want to make their own but I do agree that the option should be there, and it will be btw.

I did see a video where they said loops and stuff would be scaleable . Also going to edit the post since people are freaking out :)

This thread seems to be to early made, maybe some of the moderators can lock this thread. Its not right to dislike all these things that are the most part not even made, thats because its an Alpha.

Think i've enough said.

It's one thing being critical about a work in progress (ALPHA) but it's another being critical about things that with a little research you would know are coming to the game.
 
I find it quite easy to make straight paths, just use the angle snap feature. Most of the coaster stuff is work in progress since we weren't even supposed to have access yet.
I agree with the other path issues mentioned but they have already been covered many times over in other threads.

I would say this post is titled and worded quite matter-of-factly, with an aire of entitlement. Constructive feedback is always good but please respect the hard work the Frontier team have done so far.
 
First of all guys, its very ok to judge and critisize an alpha. It is our job after all to convey to the developer what works, what doesn't, and what we think should be done to rectify a problem.

But OP, the WAY you do convey your feedback is really important too. Try to be less click-baitey on your thread titles at least..[big grin]

I think the fact the park entrances are modular pieces that exist in the game means that in the future we will be able to build and decorate our own entrances.

I don't know about parking lots, I really want guests to arrive in our park the same way they do in real life amusement parks. Not through a cave, but using cars or public transportation. I am guessing something like that is coming.

Agreed on both. The ability to make open areas is crucial imo.

I think that ticket booths will stay in the game, I have seen though in previews some more entrance types. If they do stay, we at least need one that can mesh well with modular structures (for example, the way the shops do), and can become inconspicuous via scenery, landscaping or building. It is a valid concern I think.
