Everytime I wake up to check the numbers of players playing the game since Odyssey

-1000 per day

So sad for ED ... They could have gamble for Ship interiors since that's the majority of the player base wanted , With the ship interiors the players won't bother those bugs or whatever planet tech issue it is. Just like how the Ship Interiors mechanic of SC help their game to continue the development and support from the community.

Around Nov and Dec, it will be scary as I think ED is slowly dying. This is similar to the game Bless Online. Wish I was a billionaire and help ED! But sadly it is what it is. :(

1000 players per day lol. Where on earth are you getting that statistic from?

At its peak yesterday, there were 8500 people playing the game at the same time.

How does that equate to 1000 players a day?

ok if you dont want 1k then make it -4000 ...You see there are 3992 players playing right now ... so from 27,000 players down to 4000 then around November and December how do you think if people can still survive playing (Removing the Power Regulators) in the next 3 months.

Don't forget that all we can see are the steam charts, that may or may not reflect the playerbase as a whole. The numbers there are worying for sure though. There have been low activity times throughout the history of ED, but never such a sharp decline from a high. Question is, did the players leave for good, or are they just waiting for the beta to be fixed ?

I give a ... about ship interiors. I want the game to deliver what was announced, to be stable, to be balanced and with a decent graphics performance. So far, FDev proved their track record of not being able to do that. With every update they fix some problems (mostly minor ones) and at the same time break other parts of the game. No wonder we see a mass exodus of players and content creators.

All the Youtubers are diversifying their content and move to other games. Lots of Players will follow, if they aren't already gone.

Many are probably waiting for the performance issues to be resolved, which they will be in time, and will no doubt return.

There really is not another game which provides the same experience as ED - yeah SC is getting some love but ultimately you will see folks returning to ED in the end.

Best to focus on your own experience and play accordingly - I mean how much does knowing others are playing the game as well add to your personal enjoyment?

I did the math.
It doesn't.
To be fair though, there is a noticeable declining trend (among Steam players only mind You) yet it's nowhere near 1k players / day.
I used peak player counts since I assumed it's the most fair comparison showing when people got time to play.
Edit : This is to prove only that 1k / day is wrong and does not really mean anything, postpone Your DOOM fanfares.

So 4000 people playing at this very moment, on a work day as well. But let's say that 4000 (and concurrency stays at 4000) say people play 3 hours a day, we can work out how many people are playing, your looking at around 32000 people on steam alone. I expect that to be more though as we are on a work day and more will log on in the evening, if there is no football.

You are looking at concurrent players, not total players.

Sure they have gone down, it's been worse before. I'm sure they will recover.

LOL, I don't think having ship interior itself will be enough to keep every player interested for a long time. Once you have done the tour of all your ship interiors a number of times, you will probably get bored of it and start skipping through them.

There is that cliché that gets repeated ad nauseam about ED and recites "A mile wide, an inch deep".
My impression about SC is that it is "A mile deep, an inch wide".

These two games are perpendicular to each ather, at least at the moment, in terms of scope, and neither is able to offer the full experience that many of us are wishing for.

My feeling to. It's kinda funny to see each community arguing on the other game issues, while they are both right most of the time.

SC planets from what I saw with OA, are miles ahead of ED, but they are not as many by a long shot.

A better comparison than all time peak would be a comparison against this time of year last year, year before, etc.

Keep in mind that the number of players over the last year and half will have been inflated with lots of people at home all day due to COVID.

That's coming to an end and people are going back to work, so that's going to be having an effect on daily numbers as well.

Looking at Steam, it seems it usually picks up in June/July but drops in August.

It suffered a big drop last year in both July (22%) and August (32%).

All that of course doesn't mean EDO isn't causing a player exodus, i'm sure it is, but you have to take the numbers in context.

In my opinion quality is better than quantity. A small number of highly detailed planets in SC is nice.

A single extremely detailed planet in Microsoft Flight Simulator is even better.

It's comparing apples to oranges though. However, it still comes down to personal preference.
