Excited VR noob

Desert63 I setup the riftcoaster demo and gave my wife ashot she was in hysterics and was squealing and screaming it was the funniest thing ever.
So let’s say she is now more understanding of the requirementsof the rift.;)

Great to hear...but that would have been anti-rift for me, as my wife can get motion sick with just a quick turn in the car. I was lucky she did so well with ED and actually wanted to stay and fly around for awhile. A rollercoaster would have meant the DK2 would be out on the street. :)

Hey Guys.

Just to give you an update.
I still never got the rift working on my laptop but i did get it working on my sons desktop.
Well worth the faffing around thats for sure it is fantastic.
It has now become a mission in my life to get this thing working with the laptop.

Cheers for the input guys.

I wish i had found out about ED and OR about 7 months ago.
The 2k i spent on this laptop ( no sniggering) could of got me a very nice gaming rig indeed.
We live and we learn i guess, now to start planting the seeds into the wifes head as to why i need a decent specced rig. ;)
I will just have to make do for now and at the end of the day it's the game that i like and to be honest the tinkering around with computers and settings is part of the thrill for me.

I will update at the end of the week when i get my OR how i get on.

See you in the black guys.

no sniggering from me mate, buyers remorse is a horrible thing!.

That being said, what is the resale price of your laptop? if you could get back even 1.3k that is a long way to a very nice gaming rig.

also can you build your own? now is a great time to look to the 2nd hand market. Some people are upgrading to skylake rigs which involves new motherboard, CPU and ram.

this means you can get some fair deals on very good bundles. a decent ivybridge or haswell I5 (I7 would be ideal for future proofing but an i5 is great too) chip on a mobo with 8 (ideally 16) GB of ram will have you well on your way to a gaming rig.

just make sure the chip is a k series, that the motherboard will support SLI and it has ideally 3 minimum USB3 ports (rift CV1 will need 2 of em!)
