[Expedition/DSSA] Search for the Pequod

DSSA Gam Nine in place in Meene - currently chatting to Ram Tah about the last time he talked to Melville and taking on supplies.

Will be setting off next Wednesday (17th) as planned. Visit Felice Dock to get the Ram Tah mission if you plan on visiting Guardian Ruins so you get the extra lore* :) There is another mission from Mitchell or Weber Dock, but we won't be going very near the required sites, so probably not worthwhile.

* It is unlikely you will be able to complete the mission on this trip - as we won't be returning (in time), but you will get paid for any scans you do. Very optional.

Loading of expedition essential supplied is proceeding to plan:

Plan is to be in Meene for a chat with Ram Tah from tomorrow.

Gilya signature weapons are off the market due to illegality.
If you are doing the whole route there might be others which are missing.

I have docked on the DSSA Gam Nine after an unfortunate incident in the Statue of Liberty Nebula, the nearby FC I had recently docked at had in the meantime returned to the bubble, so when I respawned there after boosting into the ground I was only four jumps from Meene, so I took that as a message to get aboard.

Anyway, I suggest not bothering to look for Guardian ruins at the nebula and pick a more likely target, there are none there. After checking most of the stars in and around the nebula, and checking out quite a number of bio signals it's strongly indicative of no Guardian sites. Brain Trees in a nebula are a good sign of nearby Guardian ruins, there are no Brain Trees in Statue of Liberty Nebula. The other good sign there are no guardian ruins is that every single body in every system I checked, both in and out of the nebula and for a good distance around had been tagged and mapped, even the ones that most people normally ignore.

I shall rest for a few days. The only fortunate thing about my, um, incident is that due to the nearby presence of a FC I lost very little data, so that aspect FC's is working well.

THIS VESSEL IS PLANNING A HYPERSPACE JUMP!

Jumps to first waypoint are planned to start in around 24 hours from this post.

We are starting from Meene (look for the DSSA Gam Nine orbiting above Ram Tah's base) heading for Col 173 Sector LJ-F c12-0 - more details on the area once we get underway.

Yesterday we onboarded our new ATC Yumi Nagata - after a couple of test jumps around Meene she is now familiar with the controls and should be with us for the rest of the trip. We've said goodbye to Ram Tah - sadly he wasn't much use in our quest for Melville - after their falling out he deleted all the security camera footage so we'll be checking The Cete (Melville's megaship) when we get there.

We're fully loaded with Tritium, rare goods and a few Thargoid oddities for research purposes. All services are online and ready for use. Now is the time to make sure you have all the ships and modules that you plan to take on board (ideas in the first post).

A propro patch day...

  • Fixed an issue with duplicate Fleet Carrier call-signs - this will cause all Fleet Carrier call signs to be regenerated as of 3.7.01.
Have fun, all you spreadsheet admins ;)

Ok - we're at our first waypoint. Doing an in system jump as I didn't realise we were finished up - will end up around A 3.

Things to do:
  • FSS the system - lots of things to discover
  • Visit the Cete - scan the data points to get the story
  • Visit the Bifrost - more data points for the story
  • Visit the Guardian sites - scan some obelisks
  • Visit the brain trees - shoot the targets for materials
Lots of Guardian sites and brain trees nearby - Guardians show up in the Galmap - there is a filter. Most Biological signals will be Brain Trees.

If you're scanning Guardian Obelisks for the lore this is a handy picture of that the obelisk may react to - have them in your hold when you scan for the lore. Not all work, and you may need to use the turret view to be able to target the obelisk :)

Next jumps - next Wednesday!

Also of interest for the screenie minded among us is a nearby tourist beacon at HIP 38064, Dual Ring tourist beacon, the two bodies in question are actually in fuel scoop range of the parent O Class star but quite safe, gravity is 2g so keep that in mind if you decide to pay it a visit.

Just to add for any first time explorers who have decided to take the trip out and are eager to tick off a few things, just a short jump from the tourist beacon is a system with a couple of NSP's, Puppis Dark Region B Sector YP-O b6-7, Lagrange Clouds and some life forms, however the particular life forms fail to register in the codex, but it's worth looking if you are there anyway.

Docked at the Gam Nine for the next leg.

After doing a heap of scans and jumps a few things still interest me about this area, apart from the guardian ruins of course. One of the interesting things is this is the only area where I have encountered more thna 50 total POI's (bio/geo) on a single body, I wonder how common/uncommon this is.

I'd hazard a guess that seeing the hard cap of 50 GEO reached is more common than seeing GEO+BIO exceed 50.

Any chance you remember where? That's the kind of thing a science expedition should really be recording 🤔

On discord people seem to have been having fun finding the local NSP and touring the Guardia sites. I know we have more of both to come :)
