Experiment success: Dictating text messages with my voice in Elite: Dangerous

Awesome concept.. but like one of the other people who have replied, DNS is out of my budget.. would be good to see if this can work using voice rec in Win7/8/8.1 which works perfectly for me within Voiceattack. If anyone has already done this, please could you post it up..

For some reason Voice Attack is adding random words to my commands. I single word command becomes a whole sentence of gibberish. I have to close it down and restart it.

Nice work. Out of interest, though, do you use UI focus at all with your HOTAS? I believe you can access comms by using UI focus and up. Would that not save you the bother of saying "press five"? Or am I missing something?

I have the same problem when I try to play through speakers, but when I'm using heaphones none of the game sounds get in the way of the VA recognition, Elite can be a problem because the ships computer speaks a lot, plus some of my VA commands have voice sounds for feedback, i know all this is optional but I really like the ships computer voice and dont want to disable it. Not a huge fan of using headphones as I have a pretty good set of speakers, but I'm willing to take the hit for ED.

I'll have to do some experimenting. But I do know that you can set up a button/key to tell VA to stop listening while that button is pressed. I use TeamSpeak in push-to-talk mode, and use that same button to tell VA to stop listening while I'm talking on TS. Perhaps that functionality can be of use while trying to dictate some voice-to-text entry...
.
EDIT: I've also noticed that VA does a lot better job at recognizing commands if you run the Windows speech trainer a few times. Which makes sense, since VA uses the Windows speech recognition software.
