Exploration data recovery after ship crash - black box

Excellent idea! Would be cool to organise a recovery mission and get another Cmdr's black box back, hand it in to Search and Rescue contact. At that point the other Cmdr would receive an inbox message: your data has been recovered by another Commander! And they would get all (or maybe even RNG % of the data) back. The founder would get say 10% of the total value of the recovered data.

+rep Cicha!

I support the request of Cmdr Cicha. I have lost data from exploration more than once, if it would be possible to find a black box it would be great. Rep+ for good idea.

I think they should do this for SLF pilots also (Vindicator Jones idea), have a retrieval mission.
If you don't do it in a time frame you lose them/your data, if you get blown up on the way to retrieval you lose coordinates of the pod/blackbox.
Cross between Dark Souls, soul retrieval and Mine Craft's, item retrieval.

Has been suggested a few times over the years, particularly when data caches were introduced.

You would need a cargo rack to store the black box when u retrieve it. That being the case, you would need a cargo rack always? Or is it in a hidden compartment?
Maybe it's a hidden compartment but only fits one, so collecting one needs a cargo rack (since 'new' ship would already have one filling the hidden spot).

If it's not retrievable by other parties, then it becomes a way of reducing exploration risk almost entirely, which would be bad. If it can be collected by other parties, then you have a good chance of being pirated. In fact, explorers become a juicy target (will be inconsistent to only be able to pirate the black box after it has been retrieved.....surely it would be dropped on destruction in the first place?)
