Exploration history/data capacity limit?

I noticed recently that a system I explored thoroughly in my early times in the game (neighbouring system to where all my ships are stored) has reset back to being completely unexplored. As someone with a kind of an OCD towards exploring, this is quite disappointing and defeats the purpose, as I'm in it for the actual exploration and not the money.

To give you some idea of how much I'd done at that point, I have 3153 L2 and 1291 L3 scans.

Anyone had anything similar?

There has definitely been some loss or corruption of exploration data at some point but I think it was on a global basis.

I don't suppose you know when that occurred? In my case I'd say the system data went missing in the last 2 months.

Sure you didnt die with the data ?
I have heard others notice similar on occassion, but never seen it myseld

In this case I am positive as the system in question was visited over thirty (easily) times as part of a trade route.

Quite a long time further back than that. :( Maybe it's ongoing. ISTR forum threads about it but not sure what search terms would dredge them up!

I've been to 27,641 systems and have 25,829 level 2 and 7,323 level 3 scans. I can still access the system maps from systems on my first trip back in January.

The joy of recordkeeping, kudos to you! Ok, it looks to be anomalous then, rather than a limitation, I can live with that :)

hehe, I don't keep detailed records but it's easy to check on obvious systems like Maia or those in NGC 7822. There may well be some that have become 'lost' from the trip and I've no real way of finding out whether that might be the case when it comes to those visited when travelling between the nebulae I visited. But if I haven't lost them all then it can't be down to something as simple as the servers only holding a few thousand systems or scans.
