Exploration plans - is this wise?

Hi all

I'm planning to set out soon on a big exploration run, and circumnavigate the galaxy. The one limitation I'm putting on it is that i want to stay between 23,899.99 and 27,899.99 lightyears from Sag A* - ie +-2Kylies from Sol's distance out.

My question before I start out is - is this madness? Is there any obvious problems with this - for example, am I going to be setting myself up to be crossing the Abyss sideways or similar?

Planning to buy up my Annie with around a 30light year jump range if that's relevant.

I say go for it Cmdr! See what happens...that's what exploration is all about.

Post your adventures so we can follow along.

You should be fine! Stars are still pretty thick in between the galactic arms at that distance from the core. I'd imagine there'd be some badlands of unscoopable stars, but if they're anything like Aucock's Pocket, they should be fairly easy to get through.

I say go for it !!!!!

Currently I am doing just that, and all 6 cardinal points, and a visit to sag A*, and Beagle point, god knows when I'll be back !
A very rough map is as follows :

Here's my pre-departure exploration data - this trip will definately push me to Pioneer, posibly even touch on Elite. The max distance from the start is just plain wrong - I've been to Sag A* but no further...

Right on Dognosh. that looks like an almost exact reverse of the route I am taking. Maybe we will meet up along the way somewhere.

Not happening pip !!! I have a job contract that came sooner than I thought, so my thinking that I have another 3 months of leisure was wrong ! :)
That's why I came back 6500 LY last night at max speed to start prospecting for DW(which I will do now) :)
have some rep back !

I'm on my way!

spent a couple of days moving out of the bubble, first stop was the Veil West Nebula:

From there I started further West, where i ran into a bit of suprise - my first Earth like of the trip:

Secret Earthlike.jpg

I'm not telling where this is, as the big suprise was that it was an unexplored Earhlike, less than 2 kylies from Sol. I'm hoping that by the time I'm back to sell, it still will be....

Still going, slowly but surely. I'm now almost 6.5kylies from Sol, but there is still the odd sign of humanity - for example, this poor soul, who wreck I've just found. I mark his passing, at Blau Thua QD-K d8-30, coordinates -5965.625 / 54.125 / 2278.0625.
