Exploration, pre 3.3 previously visited systems, how complete is the system map

So, I am a bit away from the bubble, go into a random system, but there are things in the system map, because other commanders have been through there and discovered things and turned them in.

So far so good, is the stuff only things that have been detailed scanned before 3.3 or will I have everything from an pre-3.3 honk ?

In other words, is it possible that there are new things to be found in a system because a lazy CMDR skipped a few ice moons here and there.

Yes, it is possible. I entered a new system last night where all the gas giants had been scanned, and were visible on entry, but none of the moons had been scanned, and were not shown on either the system map or the left panel.
