we need a explore only ship with super high jump range and we the community should design it. this ship have no weapon 2 srv and one cargo rack and fuel scoop and sensor thats it and its super small this ship can do 150ly jump.

Absolutely.

I was actually thinking more of very large, well shielded, well armed, but extremely slow and unmaneuverable sort of ship that can still have very good jump range while being outfitted decently for combat. I'm thinking turrets and fighters. Kind of like how the Cutter is now, but without the abysmal jump range. We need more proper large ships that can go off into deep space while remaining largely independent without having to worry about pirates...or, shall I also add, mysterious aliens.

Then again, maybe I'm thinking too much along the lines of "Star Trek".

I voted both yes and no, because i could for some reason. [noob]

Anyway, why? All ships are capable of being exploration ships, many of them good ones.

With each new patch, the needs of explorers become less about max jump range and more about number of internals, and i think in the future people will be saying the Asp E needs a boost because it can't fit enough necessary stuff (like when we get more and different types of SRVs).

The Clipper makes a really nice exploration ship, especially if you slap in an extra fuel tank. The CM4 makes a decent one as well.

It would be nice but not sure it's fair. I mean how do we maintain the very hard won bragging rights of those who have been to Beadle Point or spent months enduring the endless slog of getting out into the deepest depths of space. Someone, not sure who, suggested jokingly that we should instead shrink the galaxy.

well this is work in progress this will be a community build ship so everything could change we could extend the jump range but this ship is only to explore deep space

We don't maintain their bragging rights, nor do we care to. Leif Erickson came to the Americas in a Viking long ship around 1,000 AD and Columbus arrived hundreds of years later in the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. These were long and difficult voyages. I sailed from Spain the the Americas in a diesel powered American warship in under seven days and in relative comfort. My voyage does not take anything away from the accomplishments of the great explorers that made the trip before me.

Sorry, voted no. I can see why a new exploration ship can appeal to a lot of players but I think FD should fix the DBX (internals) so we can use it for real exploration instead.

And, first and foremost, FD should give us real scanning game mechanics. Once this is done, they can design a brand new perfect exploration ship, fit for said new mechanics.

Another hull for more samey jump/honk would be of no use to me.

A new solid Exploration ship sounds good but what you suggest here, sounds like too much :(

I imagine an Exploration ship with the jumprange of an Anaconda but fueltank for 6 jumps, supercruise ability like the ASPe, 8 internal compartments (maybe 9 when fighter available) but with only decent shields and Hull and something about 4 medium Hardpoints placed to support turrets :)
Best would be if it fits on medium pad

We should get new luxury exploration ship. Fast, agile, with good jump, with a slot for fighter, SRV's and reasonable shield and weak weaponry.

I'd like to see a good exploration ship but voted no for two reasons:

we need a explore only ship with super high jump range and we the community should design it. this ship have no weapon 2 srv and one cargo rack and fuel scoop and sensor thats it and its super small this ship can do 150ly jump.

70% of the community voting to design a ship that has a jump range of 150ly is proof enough that devs shouldn't listen to us because we clearly have no idea what we are doing.

I think I will start a thread asking for a small ship making 15032 damage per second, see how this goes.

So strong shields, heavy weaponry, large internal slots, huge jump range, but slow and sluggish in normal space, i.e. what the T9 should have been minus the weaponry part. Add the weaponry and you got yourself a ship that's even more OP than the anaconda though, because it would be better than the top 2 ship of choice for pretty much any activity in the galaxy, and current top explorer.

I see that you qualified the jump range of a combat cutter of "abysmal", that's a laugh. Try flying a corvette and weep as it has a third less range for individual jumps, and half the total range on the standard fuel tank... now that's abysmal!

I voted no, plenty of exploration choice already.

I am concerned as I assumed the OP was having a laugh. However the responses have got me worried.

So something like the Beluga, only actually relevant? Imperial Explorer springs to mind. But the problem is, we all know frontier will never add another long-range ship.

Because the new blue is that everything must be compromised. Never. If frontier say "challenge accepted" I'd be shocked. But it won't happen. And there is a loud choir who will happily sing that a ship with good range and internals absolutely is the worst thing possible. Just like they did for Beluga.
