Exploration value formulae

Thanks for checking @WarmedMints - but I have more questions.

It's early, so entirely possible I'm missing something. The journal logs are those from your Odyssey commander, right? But the second body states "WasMapped":false.

So... what's going on? Assuming the first value image is the same Odyssey commander selling the data, they clearly didn't get First Mapped and EDSM has same mapper for the ELW and the WW - suggesting they were first mapped at the same time.

Your tool also doesn't seem to account for it - was the tool image from the Horizons commander? Did your tool give a higher expected payout for the Odyssey commander for the WW?

Is it possible to get the comparable Horizons 4.0 journal entries from the other commander too?

All that aside, looks to be a nice incentive to try 4.0 client anyway.

The screenshot from my app was from my odyssey commander as were the logs. The third pic is the only one from the horizons commander.

As for the wasmapped being false, that's just ED being ED. My app calculated the values from the Autoscan event which indeed has the wasmapped as true. The Scan event I posted was the detailed one fired by the game after the DSS has finished.

Here are the horizons logs though just in case.

As this post is on another page, here's the Detailed Scan event fired with SSAScanComplete

With my app, if I already I have a scan event and have calculated a value from an autoscan, I just ignore the detailed scan fired with the SSA one.

Perfect, thanks a lot @WarmedMints.

That is a new and... er, "interesting" bug I wasn't aware of - like you, I'd be using the first scan for the calculations but I feel like I need to go and triple check this doesn't trip me up in bulk reads or whatever.

But yay Horizon 4.0 payout buffs.

Edit: I updated the first post to confirm Horizon 4.0 also gets the Odyssey bonus. I guess we should rename it the "4.0 bonus". (Or maybe give it a couple of patches in case it wasn't intended :))

Just wondering, have you noticed any difference with payouts based on reputation or something? I've found a scan that pays considerably less at a station where I am neutral with the controlling faction vs allied.

And neutral

This looks like the weird bug where named bodies in the bubble that can't have first discoverers sometimes get the FD bonus added, seemingly randomly (407688 * 2.6 =~ 1059988). To my knowledge, no reason for this has been found and I think it was even possible to sometimes see different values in the same station if you logged and retried later. I don't believe rep has anything to do with it as it only seems to affect these bubble bodies that don't have first discoverers - if it were a rep bonus you'd expect it to affect all payouts.

That would make more sense. Thanks.
