Explorca update

For the first time, it's genuinely stress-free exploration. The DBX's 4A scoop is just too slow. The Asp has a fantastic scoop, but it's twenty million credits. And the Asp is ugly. And everybody's got one. Every half an hour I'll spend 30 seconds filling my flying fuel tank; it's glorious.
When I went across the spiral arms in the Adder I could only jump 4 or 5 times without refuelling, which made brown star fields an absolute nightmare.
This Orca is like "How many jumps do you need, man? Tell you what, jump fifteen times and we'll start looking for an M class. What brown dwarf field?"
I've been less than half-full just once. It's not the fastest explorer, with its 17LY jump, but it's the nicest.
See you out there, CMDRs :)

How did you get an exterior shot? Is that in PC client?

Regarding the Sag A run... its sure lonely. I want to be doing stuff in the worst way but I'm still working my way closer to the center. Under 9K now and starting to look amazing.

Sweet, if only they had the tourism economy in the game, you could probably have made even more money from punters paying to go sightseeing in luxury.

Have fun out there.

Exactly. Now I'll see twice as much ;)
This is exactly what I was pondering yesterday. I'm nearly Elite in combat....as soon as I hit that, I'm gonna gonna take a road trip or two.

However, if a large part of exploring is...actually exploring/making money, rather than just getting to destination X in as few jumps as possible, why the fevered insistence on the greatest jump distance for exploring? Shouldn't comfort, view, cost effectiveness, etc... be at least equally important?

Absolutely. This is why I swear by my Cobra.

It's for a few reasons. One being that if you are an extreme explorer there are star fields that get very sparse and require far jumps. Let it be said that becoming an elite explorer is more about picking and choosing stars instead of going far.
