Explorca update

This is exactly what I was pondering yesterday. I'm nearly Elite in combat....as soon as I hit that, I'm gonna gonna take a road trip or two.

However, if a large part of exploring is...actually exploring/making money, rather than just getting to destination X in as few jumps as possible, why the fevered insistence on the greatest jump distance for exploring? Shouldn't comfort, view, cost effectiveness, etc... be at least equally important?

Jump range is usefulr for brown dwarf fields and crossing between arms. If you are going coreward anything around 20 Lys will do fine. If you plan on going out to the edge, you are going to need the 30+. For exploration i shoot for 30 personally. 1) in case i need to come home in a hurry. 2) defibately nice to have when you need it. As the saying goes: better to have and not need; then to need and not have.

That is awesome! I haven't played to much with recording, I haven't figured out how to record more then 30 secs yet lol

Instead of using the 'quick' video capture. Snap your DVR, and "start recording".

Yep, I went for range using fuel tanks for dwarf fields. I haven't even had a close scare yet.
I've got a fully equipped DBX waiting for me at Geoffrey's Rush for when I get back. I'll be using that to reach more inaccessible areas

Yeah, the GameDVR is really nice - I particularly like the way you can record after-the-fact... So if you see something good, you can tell it to record the *previous* up-to 5 mins of the game... Then you can just bring up the clip in Upload Studio and trim any unwanted bits off the start and end of the clip...

That xboxdvr.com site is a great find though - makes it much easier to share the clips once you have them.... previously I've been uploading them to OneDrive and sharing from there, but this is so much easier.

I really need to spend some time getting to grips with the external camera controls.... never seem to be able to get the angle I want.

You haven't posted any screen shots of the whale recently. What happened? Didn't scratch her did you?

I've been at work all week. I've posted a few in the xbox explorers thread, I thought it better to keep them all in one place.

But here's one just for you ;)

I have to admit I am totally in love with the idea. I have been looking for an excuse to buy an Orca, but nothing really fit. This is certainly a better idea than retrofitting my FDL for exploration... ;)

I had some extra cash lyin' around, so I built an "Explorca." I quite like it. Very comfy. She ticks all the boxes that are really needed for exploring. Unless of course your idea of exploring is getting to your destination as quickly as possible w/o ever exploring the in between.

Definitely not my choice for the "Sag A Speed Run", but great for actual exploring. :)
