Explored or UnExplored

... NEW ...
PLEASE take this to your programming staff.
To put in another box within the Star Map, that indicating, That Stars or System
has already been Scanned Fully and Logged in to YOUR system.
With a new color that would just overlap the existing color of that star or system.
This would help Explorers expand the Unexplored areas tremendously.
A box would Turn On and Off will show explored and unexplored systems.
Not to get this Confused with the Stars that I have VISITED.
But ALL the Stars in your Database.
Use picture that's provided as a reference.
Thank for your Help. O7

I don't think that is identical, not even after all the hoohah with me misreading - OP here is making a distinction between "visited" - ie jumped in, honked, and jumped out again - versus the other possibilities such as
  • complete FSS survey
  • complete DSS survey
  • complete DSS survey and all bio samples.
  • Docked somewhere at least once so you can get remote market intel

In my last comment in another thread I asked if there was an easy way to read the bookmark you have on a system you are already in, and this was actually why, I leave "come back for bio" type notes to myself.

If you read it, it said scanned Fully and Logged in to your system.
Partials that are not fully scanned, Hop in Hop out doesn't apply.
Please Support, is better then nothing .

I'm a bit ambivalent about the idea of knowing in advance if a system has been discovered or not. It kind of removes the excitement of not knowing. And, perhaps in a somewhat weird and hard to explain way, it kind of feels a bit like "cheating" if you can just see from the galmap if a system is undiscovered so you can just go there and discover it yourself.

Sorry, I don't really have rational arguments to give, just my personal feelings.

Well you can sort of test it with apps that will tell you if systems you are jumping to in your route are already entered into EDSM or Spansh, sure it doesn't give you them all because not everyone reports their data, but it does give some idea of the way it might work.

I would not like this feature to be implemented.
For me, one of the most unique feelings in this game is searching out that first 'unexplored' system - and and the experience of finding it !

The anticipation and wonder, frustration and challenge - a unique opportunity of great value.
Then, when finally the amazing moment of being the first ever Cmdr to discover a system ... to be the first one to set eyes on a system ... this is a precious moment 🙂

Let me get this straight.
You want a new filter that will highlight systems based on how complete your exploration of them has been?
You don’t want it to use others exploration data except where we have legitimately picked it up in game from a Nav beacon or data purchase?

You want a new filter that will highlight
systems ( based on how complete your exploration ) of them has been?

No. Based on ALL DATA.
You can turn it off if you don't need it or don't want it.
This way we can get beyond the line of already Exported that has already been done near the bubble. And also clean up any that is left in the bubble. Making exploring a little easier.
This also would help people that mine for a living would be able to use the data to find more or better goodies to cash in.

Another one, let's make it clear, FDEV do not want this to be a feature, they specifically changed the way the players visitedstarcache worked to prevent players using a workaround to implement this by creating one huge list of a large number of players, the don't want this to be a thing, this has been explained in several threads already over the last few weeks. I wonder why we are having a rash of them suddenly, all with the same request!

You said, " I wonder why we are having a rash of them suddenly, all with the same request! "

Well that's kind of what we want . And we also kind of paid for it.
And it doesn't hurt to request it. It's just an Option.
You can always turn it off if you don't want to use it.

FDEV specifically doesn't want you to have this feature, doesn't matter what you want, it's not your game, this is a feature FDEV have been clear about blocking, that's been pointed out in other threads, making more won't change things.

Then just don't Turn it On.
But it would be there if you need it.
Your thought is interesting, and maybe the same thought could be applied to other aspects of the game?
Perhaps your way of thinking could be adopted more thoroughly in your game design?

Using your idea of having a toggle option, maybe a toggle to select Elite status could be there if you need it.
Wait, how about a Raxxla toggle?

? ?

Broke my heart when they disabled that....and I didn't even use it for that purpose...lol

"As of January 10, 2023, only 0.059% of the galaxy or exactly 236,219,997 unique star systems, had been explored."

What excitment of not knowing? A few thousands ly out of the bubble, outside of the line towards colonia/Sag A*, I only feel surprise if I come across a system that has already been explored.
