Explorer: Eagle ... back from Sagittarius A*

Once upon a time, when Elite left Beta-stadium in December of last year you got your starter-kit including a sidewinder; and next to it, there was an Eagle as a gift for the beta-backers.
Back then I jumpded into my Eagle (aka phonebooth), earned the required money to buy the necessary scanners by doing some scanning-tours in the nerby systems and after having achived that, - on January 5th 3301 - I set course to go for Sagittarius A*.
My Eagle has a jump-range of 18.17Ly(18.65Ly) and a fuel-capacity of approx. 40Ly., which means I have to refuel at least on every second system.
I started with 610.000Cr left in my pocket and my explorer-rank was Pathfinder 29%. I explored on weekends and days off.
Today, October 30th 3301 I returned home without ever having traded goods, mined, assassinated, killed, smuggled or bountyhunted, only explored and after having sold my cartographic data the statics now say:
Systems visited 3,840, profits from exploration 123mioCr, Level2 detailed scans 12,474, Level3 detailed scans 9,855.
Explorer rank: Pioneer 69%
I have a detailed logg with the name of every system, its number of suns, the category of the main sun, the number of planets per sun, and the number of amonium giants, water giants, amonium worlds, water worlds, and earthlike worlds in every systems.
When Elite started, there where people interested in such data, but I´m not sure if this is still true.
Just let me know.

Very impressive trip CMDR!!
Wow!
And I thought visiting Sag A with a completely fitted Diamondback Explorer was tough....LOL....guess not....wow!

You're a pioneer. And one of the earliest ones if your expedition began as far back as January. I'll put a new entry into the Pioneer timeline, let me know if it sounds correct, and if you have a blog of your journey I'll link to it :)

January 3301:
★ CMDR FaschingsPrinz sets off on a journey to visit Sag-A* in an Eagle rigged out for long distance exploration... the first recorded attempt to reach the galactic core in such a vessel. Later that year, in late September 3301, FaschingsPrinz successfully returns to colonized space and is awarded over 123 million credits from Universal Cartographics for the data he amassed. His mission is thought to be one of the longest running on record, at 9 months.

Well done commander, and welcome home :)

all things considering, eagle is a fighter, can barely stand up and walk around in it. That's one harsh trip ingame wise :) Well done though.

Updated the timeline with new info FaschingsPrinz sent me, and added that gutsy old Eagle of his to the famous pioneer starships section.. :)

  • The 'Phonebooth' Explorer (Eagle) : First starship of its class known to have attempted to reach the galactic core. Successfully concluding its mission later that year.

Are you kidding? Elite was made for people like you! I'd rep you 3,840 times if I could for doing what you have done.

If I've said this once I've said it 100s of times what the Elite community can do at times never ceases to amaze me. If it were upto me I'd give you an Elite Explorer rank right now, you have certainly earned it! :)
For you FaschingsPrinz...
