Explorers at Jaques - You Have No Excuse Anymore

Plus, there is also a Militia at Jaques. It does not help always, but there was several incidents, when the organised Militia was able to get rid of griefer in Open. There are even some CMDRs who are regulary patrolling around Jaques and helps against the griefers.

I was always mostly Solo player, but I must say that the whole CCN thing is cool and fun way how to play a bit of multiplayer in ED.
I tried to tell them that but I seem to have lumped in with the griefers LMAO! :D

I agree with all the folks who are of the opinion that Fdev won't suddenly fill the galaxy with hostile aliens, and that if they did it would be a big mistake, but I have to point out the major flaw in your thinking on this topic, Ziggy: If you go on an exploration jaunt of weeks/months/better part of a year in solo in your paper thin Asp or DBX or whatever as 99% of explorers are want to do, how many hostile encounters that you are completely underprepared to cope with does it take to ruin your entire trip?

I'd think one would do the trick.

That's right my fellow explorers: Fdev doesn't have to fill the entire galaxy with aliens to cause you to lose potentially months of game progress. All they need to do is have an alien or two over the course of weeks or months to completely destroy you and all of your progress. The reality is that you guys don't even need engineered mods (though I 100% agree with the OP), you could at the very least use existing methods to properly equip your ships for the barest minimum of defensiveness. Since you guys can't even be troubled to do that much, you stand no chance at all even if Fdev takes the cheap-out route and designs the eventual aliens to be no more dangerous than the average pirate NPC.

I can run can't I? Only if I have to run from encounter to encounter I could get in trouble.

Fail to see the fault in my thinking.

And what good are a couple of guns on a T-6 going to do me?

Did you even read my post? I never suggested guns. Far from it, I'm a HUGE advocate of running away, and guns play no part in that; I'm simply advocating for explorers to start being more defensive...which brings me to my next point: if you're flying a typical explorer build, you are unlikely to survive incoming fire long enough to hi wake.

My point remains.

(Removed the gun comment when I realised that as well.)

No it does not. A typical explorer build has shields ever since Horizons.

Good info, Genar.

Closing in on Jaques in my shield-less, weapon-less, almost mod free Sidewinder. But I have an edge; I know the exact(ish) number of anti-social, sociopathic, homicidal maniacs and freaks in my instance: it's between 0 and 1 (depending on my mood of the day).

So far all we have seen to real life-threatening aliens, has been hot air and smoke blown up our black holes, and if they do show up, I seriously doubt they'll be of any danger to explorers. The forum outrage will prevent that effectively.

Don't worry folks, the first alien ships we'll encounter will be piloted by Frontier Devs... Who will react according to your intentions. [yesnod]
Now...let's see what else materialises in my crystal ball.....[woah]...:D

I think you've got your wires crossed about what players are trying to set up out at Jaques. Its the complete opposite of what you're going on about. A bit of background reading should make it a little clearer :

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/282462-The-Colonia-Citizens-Network

Also, please define what you meant by "worst of my kind". I dedicate my time in ED at setting up expeditions, overseeing the mapping project, and am involved with the Formidine Rift role-played story. Its all harmless I assure you! The last time (and only time) I shot at another player was during the Aulin Apocalypse - it was consensual and the last night of beta, nearly 2 years ago :)

Not gonna argue with ye because I've already had my mind made up for me. The role players that you claim to be a part of also justify their griefing by claiming its a CG or CB or whatever...that it's simply a part of the game and that by playing in open, if you get killed then apparently it's our fault fer being in open in the first place. We gotta "git gud" or get lost basically...so I got lost and now they tell me I gotta come back in to the bubble to arm myself...wish the pvprs would make yer minds up because now getting lost isn't an option and they wanna dictate how to play the game to us so we "git gud" anyway.

The pvprs have basically done a number two on their own backyard and let things fester, then use the forums to try and get us back into open play so they can have more targets. They don't care a hoot for our game, they just looking out for themselves and by staying in solo, they are literally getting the middle finger along with a smile that knows they can't do anything about it.

You guys wanna setup some little community out at jacques, then go ahead...I'll believe it when I see it, much in the same way I'll worry about aliens when I see them. Jacques is nothing more than a little bubble and the only thing it adds fer me personally is a little bit of convenience and that's it. Probably won't last long as FD go through the motions of this role play backstory, so I'll enjoy the convenience while it lasts. But fer sure, there's not a snowballs chance in hell I'll be coming into jacques on open because I don't expect it to be any different from the bubble. Recent threads have done nothing more than confirm this ^^

Yes, and a fully "defensive modded" exlorer Asp .. Explorer can bring about 1000-1200 "hitpoints" in shields and armor. My corvette shreds trough that in 10 seconds.

You might counter "but Boomer, your Corvette is pathetically slow, I'll be out of range in 7 seconds". That's right my friend, that's right - but I fly the Vette for style points and combat prowess. The Imperial ePeen is completely useless in combat .. unless your goal is to chase fleeing targets with it's 400m/s+ modded boost speed. What do our prominent pillock friends fly prominently? They so smart. They understand this game so well. hurr ... durr.
It might trade a bit of damage for that increased speed .. bout 15% .. so you live for 11.5 seconds. In a pretty "defensive" ASP build that is most likely either going to strand somewhere due to it's tiny fuelscoop or end up with damaged internals due to tiny self repair.

No worries, once multicrew is live, we can explore in the ISS Immersionbreaker. :)

I see a lot of aggressivity here and I wonder -- what people do even care?

Note to verminstarr: glad you're a part of the 'rather toxic community' ;)

Someone's running out of "soft targets" he can 100-0 before the FSD cooldown is over and now promises to "make exploring great again". :)

And don't get me wrong, I don't doubt the good intentions of this post. But please don't resort to "you know nothing about the game and make up excuses".
Give me your magic build that can stand longer than 10 seconds against a battle ready ship. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjgsZe9dlaY

Hint: it's another "battle ready ship" stuffed with HRPs and with a decent shield modifier.

Word.

Erimus is the ultimate griefer; he lured thousand's of explorers to Beagle Point for no good reason. But does that stop him? no, he's doing the exact same thing now, only with Jaques. Bad Erimus, bad Erimus!

;)

PvP(against no competition) yet again.

Flexing their muscles, telling us how good they are.

I don't go in open even with a combat ship the odds are against you against a wing.

Some major bad decisions made, have resulted in open as it is now.

I will go in open for the last 50% to get to Elite in any event, but it won't be pleasant, I just don't think you can be Elite in combat without being in open and I have the cash to chuck away now.

I will be in a Cobra :)
